I have an idea to a relaunch.

I think that they should build up to this rebrand.

It will be really special because it will return the globe, and the '1'.

A caption showing '1997'. It will start off with a ten second trailer, of the '1' with arms, and the '2' with arms, dancing together, at the top of a cliff, or near a danger. then they do the sequence that makes the screen red in two halfs. The text just says "Coming soon".

For the next following teasers, the red screen just displays the digit '1'.

Next teaser, you see the '1' slipping, and falling down the cliff - or into the danger, and the '2' crying? It won't be grusome, more cartooney, for a family audience.

During the same period you see a cartoon 'BBC' marketing deparment shurgging, and setting up a 'Dancers Wanted Sign', and enflating a globe balloon.

Two weeks later you see the '1' twitching at the bottom of the cliff.

Another two weeks later, you see the '1' surfing on a 'clock-surfboard' on the Pacific ocean on a 'BBC1.' globe, that has bounced over the cliff, behind some rock / upbeat music.
The '2' looks extactic.
The red caption says:
"The new 'BBC1.' Launching Next Sunday - on 'BBC1.'.
The 'new' rotates into 'old' in the same way that 'BBC Three' rotates into 'Seriously Funny New Comedy', and back on 'BBC3.'.
After the red screen, the '2', and the '1' hug.

What do you think?

What do you think? This is the last issue in this Christmas post Smile! Making this one of the last active remnents of Christmas Smile. It hasn't died it's death yet though. I was really looking forward to logging on to seeing some feedback to this idea Smile. If this thread gives my rebrand a go-ahead, I might do some mocks for it in a new thread. Then this thread will die Smile Laughing !

Having not worked on the High Street, let alone at Christmas, I can only em/sympthise (can't remember respective suffix) with how you must feel Smile.

I will start. One major set back...
... Embarassed What font is the '1'? I heard in another post that the '2' is a bold version of 'Gills Sans', but is this a derivative font, or just 'Bold' on the formatting toolbar?

I don't think I have any 3.D. software, so I'll have to do it manually. Make a vanishing point, which I can delete when finished, (keep a saved version with it on [for editing]), just do darker blends, with the blend angle facing the light.

This sad remnent of Christmas is nearly dead now Smile (not a sad smiley!), and I suppose that is good, because I can start work on a new mock. B.T.W., I have C.4. ones nearly finished. I am using 'Fireworks 4.'.

Can the moderaters please lock this thread now. It's January 11th - the Christmas ident has long gone and all that's being discussed now is irrelevant dribble.

Has the thread outlived its usefulness for you ?

Irrelevant dribble ? Looks like the thread has come full circle then.

What do you mean outlived its usefulness for me. I never wanted the thread to be created in the first place, as I was quite happy with the so called official Christmas Ident Thread.

And please explain what you mean by "Come full Circle". Idiot

We don't try and lock threads unless there's a good reason too - best to RTP if you believe it should be locked otherwise you're just adding another post and we end up having this debate. The thread will die in exactly the same way as the other 18,000 odd have... Smile

The rule did apply in that case and a RTP was made in regards to that thread.

yes but we still have not heard why the thread was actually closed. it just closed. are these decisions only for those with a purple name to know? It's this co ck rubbing "i'm a mod - i can do what i want" attitude of yours which is most infuriating.
