It always seems a bit cringe when BBC One tries to be down with the kids with hashtags and banter
Haven't hashtags been a pretty universal thing for about 10 years now? You might as well be complaining they're broadcasting in colour to be down with the kids.
I was meaning that type of hashtag, not all hashtags in general, but it doesn't matter.
I knew what you meant. Corporate hashtags don't tend to be used by people other than for sarcasm/jokes or criticism
#XMASLIFE is a bit low rent and tacky for BBC one, should be #Christmaslife
"His name was Jesus Christ, not Jesus X!"
Why "X" is acceptable. It's the Greek word for Christ. It also denotes a Cross which Jesus died on. Therefore it shouldn't be pronounced Xmas but Christ-mas.
By the way, back to the presentation, the BBC Homepage backgrounds looks as if it's the background on the wrapping paper on the presents under the tree. Could that be the end board graphics this year?
I know it was pretty simple but the year they had the wrapping paper theme is probably one of my favourites of recent years. Less is sometimes more.
Then again I also didn't hate the curtain.
I didn't hate the curtain either. I was just disappointed it didn't offer more. Perhaps opening up to reveal the start of key programmes. I liked the simplicity of it. The wrapping paper was nice. I liked it.

It was a classic example of TV Forum inventing something that was never the case, believing the curtain would open to reveal something when that was never the plan, and then complaining when it didn't happen.

If I remember correctly, the wrapping paper theme didn't go down all that well on here, but I agree, I think it was the best of the past decade, harking back to simpler times of Christmas presentation. In recent years it's all become a bit too elaborate, but hopefully this year will be better.
I enjoyed the wrapping paper, especially the accompanying musical score which sometimes makes or breaks an Ident, for example with the curtain, something more festive may have made it more favourable to me.
