Also, I imagine a version of that without the cat will be used for news, perhaps the odd persons feet/legs passing by but otherwise completely silent or ambient household background noise.

It's possible you could be right. But we don't know if there'll even be a cat ident yet. The teaser might just be part of the promo film.

Is cats flying around on hoovers better?

Better than the current Oneness idents?

Hell, yes!!

Well, it isn't the highest threshold of all time they can pass.

A cheerful ident package hopefully we will be getting this Christmas, compared to the dull as ditch water one for 2018.

#XMASLIFE is a bit low rent and tacky for BBC one, should be #Christmaslife

Surely it's the hashtag that's tacky and not the centuries old "Xmas"?

That "yeah!" on the stings will get on my nerves quickly.

It always seems a bit cringe when BBC One tries to be down with the kids with hashtags and banter

what
Something tells me that BBC are planning on going back to the original format of "Oneness" back in Christmas 2016. As for "#XMASLIFE" I'm imagining that, like Brekkie has said, BBC One will finally ditch the awful "Oneness" idents and use the new "OneLife" slogan, which I think suits the channel well. Either that, or these idents are a base of the next 2020 idents.

Last year, they used “Wonderland” as the theme on the initial trailer, but the actual idents and pres carried the Oneness tagline. I’m expecting something similar here.

Haven't hashtags been a pretty universal thing for about 10 years now? You might as well be complaining they're broadcasting in colour to be down with the kids.

I was meaning that type of hashtag, not all hashtags in general, but it doesn't matter.

Do we know a date for the launch of this ident package? Are we guessing Sunday December 1st? Thanks.

Yes it will be on Sunday, unless the BBC themselves have forgotten.
