Clearly the BBC have decided that there is no need to be a public service broadcaster at Christmas. A singular 15 minute news bulletin at lunchtime being all they're providing on Xmas day and the late bulletin being all of 5 minutes including the weather on years day (and they'll still probably bring someone extra in to present it).

I think Strictly Come Dancing special is scheduled in for a much longer slot and there could possibly be an early evening news at 5.50pm. The late news will air after the Two Ronnies I feel, which could be edited into a half hour edition.

Yes I’m surprised to not see a teatime news bulletin on Christmas Day and the late one so late.

They’ve basically added Gavin & Stacey into last year’s schedule and not taken anything out, so everything is pushed earlier and later. EastEnders 9:30-10:30, Strictly at 4:40, The afternoon animation shunted to before The Queen.

Call the Midwife for 90 mins at 7:00 seems a bit heavy. Who is ready to pay attention to a 90 minute drama at 7pm?

"Christmas with Wallace & Gromit".
It wasn't that long enough that they were still airing Morecambe & Wise reruns on Christmas Day, which they now seem to have stopped doing . The passing of "Andrew Preview" Wink earlier this year was probably an ideal excuse to wheel out the 1971 Christmas special of Morecambe & Wise.

Morecambe and Wise usually gets shown on BBC Two these days, often on the evening of Christmas Day. Wouldn't be at all surprised if they did so again this year.

Well they've got Gavin and Stacry and little else it seems.

Christmas Eve pretty unremarkable in the day, whilst Strictly at 4.40 is at least an hour too early, as is Gavin and Stacey. I think Call the Midwife could do a better job anchoring another day leaving you with something like Strictly at 6.10, EE at 7.30, MM at 8.30 and G&S at 9.30.

I really don't get why they persist with the Top of the Pops specials either - highly doubt they rate that well.

Grimmy mentioned the schedule release as per the tweets on his show this afternoon and said ‘what’s a Cat got to do with Christmas?’ Laughing

Obviously he hasn’t got the memo or seen this year’s pres!

If you thought the BBC's was bad, ITV's is the worst I've seen in years.

Well since Downton Abbey finished they’ve shown 2 hour dramas that tended to rate worse than if they’d been shown in mid August so I can see why they aren’t going down that road.

Obviously Christmas Day is BBC One’s biggest day of the year, it’s never been a big day for ITV they make just enough effort but not too much.

I suspect the Downton Abbey movie might get an outing on Christmas Day next year.

ITV basically gave up on Christmas from 1993 onward. Their 1993 offering was just back to back movies. Christmas is a tough time for ITV, as Christmas Eve onward is a poor time for ad revenue, as most people have spent their money on Christmas presents, food and drink. So, the advertisers are not exactly flocking to the channel on Christmas Day.

Even the Chase bloopers 2019 is a repeat. On Christmas Eve it partiallly clashes with Take Off with Bradley and Holly.

Netflix it is then. Basically the usual schedule with a bit of Christmas thrown in.
