Agree with fanoftv's assessment that the Christmas idents suffer from the lack of a signature symbol to hold the whole thing together/provide a reason for existence outside of the forced alignment with the "mini film of the year".
Compare this to an idea like Penguins - great concept, within a clear theme, superb execution; also centred around bringing people together (the much trumpeted and strained raison d'etre of Oneness) in a subtle, clever and charming way that really connected with the average viewer.
Anyway, the idents are well shot, the tree one probably the pick of the bunch, music nice and understated. Not bad at all.
North East and Cumbria must have forgot because the sausage dog walkers ident played into Sunday Politics EDIT: It was the same in the South East according to TV Home, so there must be a delay getting it to the regions?

The swimmers ident got played out in London!
What on earth is happening with BBC One at the moment? Presentation is all over the place. Where's the care and attention to detail that this channel desperately needs?
It's been 13/14 degrees across much of the country today.
Yes - but I think the point is it's winter.
Yes, and it's 13 degrees outside. Christmas has been increasingly mild in the UK over the past few years with Winter kicking in later. People should be more worried about that than whether BBC One's Christmas idents are wintery enough.
Just a theory but aren’t the regional politics shows recorded earlier in the week? Assuming the ident is packaged up as part of the programme it could explain why we got normal idents?

...This is a TV Presentation discusssion forum. If someone has opinion that a Christmas ident isn’t Christmassy enough then that’s perfectly fine because it’s presentation!
Checking iPlayer and no regions at all played out the Christmas idents. Only the Nations did.
And at that, they played the Tree ident which still had the night time sky and loads of people standing around and obscuring it. Therefore I guess the only daytime variant is the pier ident. Quite inconsistent.

That's fine, but the seaside is not where people go in December, even if it is 13 degrees, and the tree on it's own on that wide shot of the pier does not make that enough of a Christmas scene.
Following your logic nobody should be on TV Forum at all because whatever is going on here is insignificant compared to climate change, or Brexit, or any other obviously much more important issue. I will probably see these idents for a total of 2 minutes or less, that doesn't make them any less rubbish though.
Can’t say I’m a huge fan of this year’s effort, I think it would be better to have not made the short film and focused on the idents instead. The film itself and the message is quite nice, but it doesn’t tie in with the trailers or idents very well at all.
The main image of the pier is not particularly festive and is actually a little depressing. I think the pier concept could have been improved by having a Christmas market and fun fair shown in the idents, leading up to the view from afar.
It is, however, an improvement on last year’s effort (although one might argue that wasn’t a difficult achievement).
The daytime ident is even worse. A dull day at the seaside with a pier in the distance that just happens to have a Christmas tree on it.
How is that Christmassy? Particularly if you haven’t seen the main film.
It’s quite likely the main film will only get occasional airings over the next few weeks, and won’t air at all over Christmas itself, so the reason why the Christmas ident is a pier will be lost.
