Lots of Xmas banning and recently been warned on here tonight (?) haha...come on guys, let's get in the Xmas spirit!!

Just like the new BBC1 identities make us all feel, haha!! Thumbs down . From what I've seen, they seem pretty depressing and the long distance view of the pier in the dark doesn't really shout XMAS to me. In fact, taking all the time to dress up the pier and decorate a tree and erect the lights, just to film it from about 1 mile away, seems utterly pointless and a waste. Also, unsure how a long distance shot of a pier in the middle of the night shouts ONENESS to me either?? Which is why the rare ident of the Forrest does not include the Oneness tagline. Nor should the pier.

Presumably they’re all frozen because they thought it was a good idea to go to the beach in December...

Not feeling the vibe on this one.

Problem is BBC1, the idents are bland, lifeless and fairylights doesn't make anything xmasy. BBC2 has it the ball out of the park with its simple concept, Ch5 has made a proper effort with its story ident. Some are like meh, but compared to BBC1 Channel 5 has made some effort.

Oneness just doesn't work, and it's been proven once again why its doesnt, and its does very little to help BBC1 stand out in a crowded marketplace to say hey, were top of the bill, we're No1 in television. BBC1 should be leading the pack not following up in broken down mini trying to play catch up.

I always liked the BBC One Slogan from the Dancers Idents era "The One to Watch".

The strength lies in the main channel identity. BBC Two now has a strong design with the curve that as we've seen can be reconstructed beautifully in various forms creating different moods. Similarly when BBC One used the circle symbol we had a device that the idents were based around that gave lovely Christmas idents (the snowball, penguins, the street, the forest and even Wallace & Gromit). We now have pieces films with the text based logo applied similarly to the year round brand.

With all due respect guys, we do take this a little seriously.

Watching it with my family and they all said "Wasn't that lovely".

That's the audience they're going for. Not us.

Mine said ‘What a load of ****’ but each to their own Shocked

The Christmas Tree one is alright. Unremarkable but not much to complain about.

The others don't really even feel winter'y to me. A lit up pier invokes memories late Summer/early Autumn evenings in Blackpool. Nothing wrong with that, just doesn't feel like Christmas.

That slogan after the Free-Runner film which launched the dancers idents, was awesome. At least that tagline made sense - he was the "One to Watch", jumping from building to building, and BBC1 was the channel to view.

Dark Pier + "Oneness" (!?) = Complete garbage.
