Also, a dancing paper turkey to whoever can decode the following caption which popped up prior to a BBC2 Scotland ident at 6.30 t'other night... I'll go for: Scotland, 2nd junction, something to do with time, 15sec.

You mean: S2TM015T
I'd have thought the 2 refers to BBC2, the 015 is the duration until the resolve of the ident and the S is for Scotland. The T possibly refers to subtitles, T = teletext (I seem to remember that being used as a convention when I was at the BBC in the olden days)

Nearly right - not a bad guess though.

S is indeed for Scotland, and the 2 is for BBC2.

TM means it's a themed ident (ie not one of the regular set) and the 015 just means that it's Themed Ident number 15.

Was I right with the T?

A first for BBC One NI tonight - Santa Watch with Jackie Fullerton!

And done infinitely better and more festively than the comparatively sullen Simmons at Havoc House.

Stings have turned up on BBC ONE too, not sure if they've been showing them for the whole run? And a nice Christmas Eve trail shown last night with a bit of festive animation between each show it was advertising. Not quite the days of the 90s Saturday night trail but it still advertised the whole evening nevertheless.

And were there some problems firing up Midnight Mass just now? News ident ran for full length before announcer appears to introduce it over a still of the final frame. The programme itself took a few seconds to kick in. Looked like very last minute padding.

Does anybody know how many there are. I've seen two so far as they are not used that often.

Also, there were some santa jumper captions knocking around the other morning, nice break from the reindeer and snowflakes.

These stings must have passed me by - I've not seen one yet! And I've only seen the Santa menu once, too.

You're not missing much, they're just excerpts from the Consider Yourself trail. BBC2's seems to be getting more frequent usage.

I have to regrettably say that these idents have been growing on me. Maybe I just haven't been watching BBC One enough to grow tired of them.
