I could be mistaken, but aren't the Christmas idents here a bit early this year? I'm pretty sure, in the past, they didn't appear much before a week or so before Christmas Eve.

Simon Cowell moved Christmas so it begins with The X Factor final. Very Happy

Out of interest what shows are Frank Skinner and Anne Robinson invovled with other christmas? Are they doing any Weakest Link specials? Is Frank Skinner doing Have I Got I News For You?

Weakest Link has been axed. They're probably just using up stockpile by now, so no specials.

It's just whoever they could get, seemingly, as Barney Harwood's in it despite Blue Peter finishing for Christmas on Tuesday and Sunetra Sarker even though Casualty finished for Christmas last Saturday. And Lee Mack and Kevin Bridges don't appear to be in anything on BBC1 over Christmas either. They're just BBC1 "faces".

Barney was there doing a behind the scenes thing for Blue Peter which is probably how he got in it, can't imagine him being in there otherwise.

The only thing I can think of Frank Skinner might be there for is Room 101, the new series of which is going to be on BBC One, although that's in the new year. Probably just building him up as a "face" of the channel....

Different boxes have different delays due to processing and decoding the digital signals. Some do this more quickly than others.

Indeed, and satellite latency will differ to DTT's

A bit late with this one, but there's also the differing timings of different regions on satellite to consider. I'm not sure how much of that is deliberate and how much is down to all the different transmission chains, but I was told it's helpful to statistical multiplexing if otherwise identical channels are offset from each other in time.

The BBC One regions generally aren't statmuxed on DSat - for the simple reason that they spend most of the day showing the same thing.

There is, of course, Frank Skinner's Opinionated, although the last episode of the current series is this evening.

Opinionated is a bbc2 show anyway.

The Consider Yourself promo is becoming a bit annoying (particularly David Jason's strange facial expression and his talk singing), I'm sure they've shown it in full at least 4 times tonight!

It is hideous.

I've started switching over when it comes on. BBC1 seem to be hoping that it's become endearing but it's quite the opposite...

I just cannot like that ident at all. The fact that several of the people there probably hated every waking second of being involved in it just makes it worse for me.

I hope next year they go back to something simple but festive like in 1998:
