I recently found a taoe which I temporarily lost. On the day of the BBC Bomb, I banged the tape in at 0900 and taped any BBC WORLD presenters, like Anita McNaught etc., whom I don't usually see. Also on the tape is the 'BBC WORLD' version of the BBC News 24 Overnight news titles in widescreen. They look really good, thats why i've been nagging Asa to capture it overnight in widescreen - sorry Asa! I was dead chuffed!

Real flags were used! I sent an email to News24 some time ago asking the same question. They said a number of real flags were filmed and taken into post-production. You can see that they're real with the sheer randomness of their movement (sorry that sounds so crap!) especially during the long sequence of a single flag during the old countdown. If any body wants a JPG file of all the various flags used on News 24 in a patchwork quilt stylee then email me at daniel.howes@talk21.com Cheers.
Is the News 24 studio in the BBC Newsroom - for some reason in the studio and in the weather studio you can sometimes hear phones ringing and background chatting!

Yes News 24 comes from the newsroom (always has) - you can see part of it behind the presenters. The rest, including the weather set, is to the right as you look at the screen. Sometimes the noise of the newsroom does come out when the weather is on (we're always being reminded to keep the noise down!)
So that's how we get one sweeping motion at 7.30 when one minute the weather presenter is sat down and in the next breath they're at the weather background!
Yeah, I always wondered how they did that. Sometimes (especially when Alex Deakin is on) the camera is a little tto far to the right and you can see a bit of wall in the bottom right, which I now know must be a little bit of the set.

Just going back to the flags discussion, Lambie-Nairn were the creators of the flag graphics originally. I did email them some time ago about the flags and asked how they were created etc and how the various designs came about but I didn't receive a reply - bummer! Their website is
http://www.lambie-nairn.com/ which does contain a small pic of the red, white and blue flag on one of its pages but nothing else that i've found.
I think generally that the flags were one of the most creative graphic sequences for news that i've seen. I would really like some flags material used by BBC World before it went corporate as the flags featured very heavily in its overall presentation.
