Amazing at it seems, but I'm bored of the BBC One balloon - the music is slow and sleepy, and the whole Balloon thing should be scrapped this year.

Not only that but the continuity with them is very poor - VERY often Balloon music is played into the first few seconds of the opening titles of a programme, and they just are awful - BBC One should go the same way as BBC America, as those new idents are simple, effective, and fantastic - the use of the Union flag is great.

Lorraine Heggasy should land the balloon, or burn it, as I mentioned in an earlier post, and bring in some new, fresh idents for the 21st Century.

The should put it to auction.
I expect it would actually sell for quite a lot.

I am not 100% certain of the BBC America idents, they are clearly designed to take away the dowdy image of the BBC that Americans have.
The best music the BBC have ever done is probably the Breakfast News music from 1993.
The 1993 music was excellent as it changed depending upon the time of the day.
Nine was your serious round up of the days news.
Breakfast was your more relaxed version of news.
1 was the midday news for housewives and then Six was serious but authorative.
This sort of presentation is now totally lacking from any channel in the UK at the moment.
That is why I think night time idents would be an excellent idea.

No doubt the '1' will come back in some shape of form.

I would love to burst the BBC balloon.  Oh and err.. well done to Cheshirec for reaching VIP status, does this mean you're likely to be 10 times more unbearable than usual ? Razz:

The chances of me being bearable are minimal.

Save the balloon! Anything like BBC America's idents would be as unsuitable for BBC ONE as an evening devoted to text messaging Smile

The only thing better would be a return to a spinning globe; the 1985-91 version was unbeatable although I still hanker after the mirror globe which preceded it.

The only problem is that the BBC America idents have the Union Jac which alot of people associate with Racism & the BNP although it dont represent that it just means four countries (England Ulster, Scotland & Wales - for those who don't know) joined togehther although nowadays it don't stnad for anything because the other countries wan tto be independent

Are you German or French by any chance you unpatriotic idiot - The Union flag is our national flag, its not racist, or anything like you say.

It's been around for 400 years and I think ignorant people like you shouldnt even DARE critisize our national symbol - you should be deported back to your country!!

Excuse me I have nothing against the flag I am English in fact a Cockney born in Whitechapple it's just that I DON'T see it as racist but everytime someone on the news has had complaint about the flag it is because people see it as racist. I personally don't & think it should be illegal for the BNP to use it also talking about race it is funny that if you insult another countries flag its racist but it countries were they burn the American, Union Jakc, French, etc. flags that it ain't racist. Personally I think we should still use the union jack but Scotland doesn't like using it. So don't tell me to go back to where I come from because I am currently in East London & in someways that makes you a racist although you most probably aint

by the way sorry if i sounded unpaitriotic (however you spell it) by I actually am one of the few Londoners that are. I think we should keep the Pound (although the Euro would probably work better), Keep the Monarcy etc. etc. and think to many people are trying to be too american

Nothing wrong with America - we could all learn a lot from our friends across the pond.

If we did have to scrap the pound I would much rather we use the Dollar in the UK rather than the weak Euro
