BBC One Balloon

I heard that the BBC One balloon is to be popped this month... if so, when will they do it?

I am assuming they will wait until they have finished with the Christmas idents (Jan 6th), but if anyone knows, please tell me.

I'm not sure where this rumour started but as far as I know that's all it is: a rumour. There has been no indication that the balloons will be axed and I don't think they will be .. but you never know...

I would have thought that the balloons would be back tomorrow. Has this year been the longest the Christmas ident has remained on screen ?

Yeah I believe so - I remember in 1998 they continued till the 27th December .. can't recall how long they remained on-screen last year, but this year I think is the longest ever.

they're not normally on this long. maybe they're planning to change their logo at the same time as ITV1.

My prediction is for the balloons to remain, with new BBC1 squares. Probably red, as some people have suggested.

At 3am before news 24 the Ballon was shown. I assume that it will be staying. Intersting to see that Meridian started using it's hearts ident again during the day despite promotions still using the christmas theme.

I like the balloon and hope it stays. I also think this years Christmas ident on BBC1 was one of the best they have ever done.

All the BBC Channels are going to be branded with the square in the bottom right corner, the balloon is going but no definate date has been announced.

Its is either in january or late summer, according to the rumors that i have heard, also, there is suggestion the globe motife is being scrapped and a numeric one brought back, allthough this too is just rumor.

But the balloons are going this year that is for certain...

Nice to see the BBC1 balloon just now for the first time in 12 days - and as much as I liked the Christmas idents, it seems rather refreshing to see the familiar balloon back in action at last.

I suppose there haven't been any sightings of any new 2's then?
