You tell 'em! This thread isn't about DOGs, it's about a possible BBC1 relaunch, so can we get back on topic please?

If you have a capture card with half decent editing software (premiere & the like), you can get rid of the DOGs which are white & half mixed on screen.

Make a key which exactly matches the channels DOG & sit the picture down

i think its a shame to get rid of the current 1 and 2 idents... both have a huge brand recognition, which is what all companies are searching for (eg carlton wanting to be known nationally), and i think that 99% would be able to tell you where that baloons from if it flew overhead.

the bbc 2 idents lasted this long as theyve been refreshed every now and then - and they were well made. the bbc 1 just need to be refreshed, id phase out the 'people' idents all together though if i were them.

i just think they need to expand the concept further - develop the music a bit (to move it on rather than becoming stale) - and stop filming so many in ireland (why are so many recorded over there?)

bbc 2 just needs to add a new twist to any new idents - maybe a similar soundtrack to each ident or something - some common thread between all the idents

it looks to me like somebody at the bbc is just looking for work to justify their employment (u can imagine how many meetings they'd go through discussing the idents - theyll make a fortune!)

I think the BBC Choice idents are amongst the best on TV at the moment. The 3 boxes are great, HOWEVER why oh why (sound like I'm on points of view now) do they advertise the next programme during the current programme with the 3 boxes about half way through. It's very distracting !!

Of course a lot has to do with employment. Do you think Mr Lambie Nairn enjoys running out of cash every 4 years. I personally think its time to dump the balloons and the 2's. I look foward to the change, as long as the new idents are good, and not like that **** Lambie Nairn made for Carlton and S4C.
