I'm surprised there's been no mention here of this BBC One promo that went out after the Royal Wedding coverage on Friday. Despite the clip selection being a bit erratic, it's pretty good

Such a good advert. Such a simple idea but must have taken ages to find those clips!

As nice as it is, and I do think it's a pretty good trail by today's standards, but doesn't it just highlight all the things BBC One isn't anymore and all the shows that made the channel good in the past but some haven't been shown for years on the channel!

Don't get me wrong it's a nicely thought out trail but I don't get what it's trying to promote BBC One as?

The majority of the clips are from programmes which are still on BBC One now. I think it's trying to say that this is where television creates classics, hence "when it's worth watching, watch it with us".

The choice of clips is a bit erratic, if it was all archive clippage or all current stuff or a nice range throughout the 75 years it would have seemed a bit more focussed. For example Mrs Brown's boys isn't really up there with Morecambe and Wise and Only Fools and Miranda hasn't even been on BBC1 yet (I think)

Someone suggested back in the thread he might be doing freelance work.

Some moron in the scheduling department thought it would be a really fantastic idea to put an obscure psychological thriller in which a crazy woman who was abandoned at birth tracks her mother down in adulthood and tries to murder her, straight after a documentary about people who were abandoned by their mothers at birth. Nice one, Beeb. Rolling Eyes

So did I. He's on now even more than when he was employed! Very Happy

Quite possibly an unwelcome national TV appearance from behind the sofa for one of the studio staff in TC7 during the closing moments of 'The Andrew Marr Show' this morning..... Laughing
