The ident is alright but that music is absolutely terrible.

Shame it starts with people arriving at TV Centre at night time, then cuts to them dancing in broad daylight! Rolling Eyes

It's not though - there's a very different quality to that light than daylight, it's clearly (to me at least) electric, artificial light.

If it was daylight then I doubt all of the fairy lights etc would show up that well. In fact 1:07 in on the video at this page, you can see it's dark.

As for if the ident is any good, the first thing I thought of was Sky1. Whether that's good or not I don't know.

Hmmm...as others have said the music is awful, and it just looks a bit low-rent at times, like when you used to have line-dancing in shopping centres on regional Children In Need opts.

That said the final shot is amazing, good that TVC has finally been used for an ident (that cartoony one aside).

It makes me realise how much I love TV Centre and will miss it. I know it's only a building but it is iconic and I have so many memories of it. Such as all of those children dancing around it on Record Breakers, Noel Edmonds taking a walk one morning from the Swap Shop studio to the It Ain't Half Hot Mum studio, the little glimpses you'd get of it on Live & Kicking and Going Live. Sad

Anyone else just lost audio on BBC One? BBC One HD's okay - been down a good minute now.

ETA: forgot the other regions are up in the 900s - looks like it's just Channel Islands. Wonder how long this'll take to fix... (EATA: about 20 minutes in the end)

The One Show ended quite abruptly on BBC One (England) just now. Although the show had finished in all but closing titles, the CA jumped in with a now and next slide as soon as the closing music started playing. EastEnders then started about three minutes early.

I'm sure it was all timed and it was just The One Show overrunning, but what happened on the other BBC Ones like HD, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales? I also wonder if it will appear with full closing sequence on the iPlayer.

I could understand on a channel using automated playout that a live programme could be cut off down to timing, but surely with something like this on BBC One, wouldn't they just be able to hold until it fully ends?

Were the subtitles affected?

I don't know if you are taking the pickle or not but since you asked, yes they were. The subtitles ended as soon as they cut back to the presentation so the last few words that Chris Evans said (thanking the guest and trailing tomorrow's show) were not shown on the subtitles.

Did anyone notice that the CA messed up the link too?

She said "So, Stacy or Janine? It's ultimate time for Ryan next". I thought she probably meant to say "ultimatum" but I'm not sure that makes sense either.

It's an interesting point, I wonder how tight they have to be with timing. If The One Show overruns then the 5 versions of BBC One that show it would just have to be late going to presentation and then late going to EastEnders. It shouldn't really matter if they are all late by the same amount of time as none of the programmes are live.

If this problem was caused by someone in London pressing a button too quickly rather than automation, how would this affect the other versions of BBC One?

Buildings like TVC and Pebble Mill are a rarity now, these days it tends to be square boxes or rounded messes made from steel and glass, nothing unique.

Pebble Mill wasn't exactly an architectural gem. It was essentially a 60's office block with a few boxy studios underneath. It was fairly ordinary except for the way it appeared on air so much

TV Centre is fairly unique in terms of TV studio centres at least the original bits. It's a unique design, is functional and looks good (although the bits added since aren't all that great). I can't think of any others the same except possibly ITV on the South Bank; which is iconic but not that well laid out.
