It's possible they filmed an updated version of it after the pub burnt down.

Hmm, The trailer was shown at the end of the junction but I still don't think it's message was correct. If the trailer had somehow been shown during TTN then it would be correct but all the time up until the start of TTN then TTN is next. SCD is only next once TTN has started. It would have worked if the CA had said something like "TTN is on now and SCD is on next" but to have a trailer saying something is next just before an unrelated programme starts just seems odd.

But that is what they did... one announcement (from Tess Daley) said 'next' and then another (from continuity) said 'now'.

No, what I said was the last pay of the ident was last Friday. There is no updated version, the ident was originally for the anniversary, and was temporary, it was never part of the permanent BBC1 set.

They messed up one of the promos for the Proms a few days ago. It used the correct BBC2 and Radio 3 logos... and the 2002-6 BBC One red box logo with Gill Sans text.

So now it's practically Christmas (only 99 days to go!) can anyone shed light on this year's Christmas ident?

I thought that this would have gotten more comment. But it's an unusual switch. Will she be missed? And would people say she was a good Controller for BBC1?

What's the big event programme this year? 2009 was David Tennant's Doctor Who departure, and 2008 had a new Wallace and Gromit as well the premiere of the Curse of the Were-Rabbit film - both became the theme for those years' idents. Wouldn't surprise me if the ident was used to promote something again.

Duncan temporarily loses the power of speech?

No idea what happened there, but a nice accident, I guess!

He had managed to speak just a few seconds before the above ident (in to Would I Lie to You?) so I wonder what happened during the 30 seconds or so while the trailers were playing out that caused him to be struck dumb. Maybe he was just over excited about getting to do this link later the same evening...

Possibly a strictly come dancing ident? http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/tv/s104/strictly-come-dancing/news/a277753/bbc-planning-strictly-christmas-special.html

Maybe it won't be related to a BBC1 show this year, ala Penguins.
