I suspect that will be the customary shoehorned box variant, a look that they just can't seem to let go.

Indeed, it was only introduced so the main four channels could have a little variation in logo and so they wouldn't drop Lambie-Nairn, but then they went and put News 24 and Parliament in a box when their titles didn't even use boxes until the 2008 rebrand. It looked so unprofessional.

So now that the Queen Vic has gone to pub heaven, does this mean that bbc1's Eastenders ident will no longer be seen? It was shown before last night's episode but surely they can't use it again now that the Vic has been torched?

I thought it might possibley get one last outing this evening, as the ident also features Peggy who goes tonight.

Also has Lucy in it who left a few weeks back.

Peggy was, probably intentionally, put at one side of the square away from everyone else so could be easily edited out (Dot too - an eye on the future perhaps?). As you say it's Lucy that will be a problem, as her departure was not planned.

Well I just assumed the fire was tonight in EastEnders. And on the now/next captions they have The Queen Vic on fire as the background.

I just saw a Tess Daly voiced trailer promoting Strictly Come Dancing, "Next on BBC One". Trouble is, it was on before Tonight's the Night. I expect we will see it again just before 6:25.

That is correct though isn't it, SCD was next!
It depends when it was on in the junction, if it straight before TTN then SCD is 'next' and TTN is 'now'. If it was before the promos then it does sound incorrect

Hmm, The trailer was shown at the end of the junction but I still don't think it's message was correct. If the trailer had somehow been shown during TTN then it would be correct but all the time up until the start of TTN then TTN is next. SCD is only next once TTN has started. It would have worked if the CA had said something like "TTN is on now and SCD is on next" but to have a trailer saying something is next just before an unrelated programme starts just seems odd.

I've heard lots of "Next on 4 is programme x, but right now it's time for a, b & c in programme y".

The last play of the ident was on Friday night. It's not just the characters leaving that is the problem - the pub they are all stood outside has just burnt down!
