Was last night the first night BBC HD had credit squeezing?

That IPP during Doctor Who looks horrible, and I heard it was animated as well?!

Yup, as if a static IPP wouldn't have been awful enough:

Looks like I'll have to tape BBC Three tonite then, for a hopefully non Nortoned copy?

I can put up with a credit squeeze up to a point.

(Wish they would standardise on episode length at an hour though! The final Tennant 2 parter I had to buy on DVD because both episodes wouldn't fit on a 2 hour disc & I have to find something to fill the disc when it's 45 mins!)

Good idea. I'll tape the BBC Three repeat so I don't get that blasted banner.

Has anyone else seen the Luther trailer for BBC 1 Scotland? When it gets to the end showing time etc, the 'Scotland' remains at the bottom of the screen on its own. The BBC is getting lazy.

First time I've seen an end credit squeeze on BBC HD - and it didn't appear to have the frame delay jump that the amateurish method BBC SD channels use causes. (Sky manage to run their ECPs without the jump...)

The Graham Norton animated strap was truly awful. And at a key point in the programme. Why bother making quality programmes when you're going to slap graffiti all over them?

They must be really worried about Britain's Got Talent...

Indeed not.

BBC One Wales are the best place to watch Dr Who and Torchwood, not least because they have that nice ident at the beginning! Wink

Be interesting to know whether the kit is different or whether it was just a coincidence, I think I've seen a few occasions where the jump hasn't happened on the other channels. Shame BBC HD has gone down this route.

It honestly beggers belief what they did last night. Aside from using it at all, the graphics team can't design a decent looking IPP for toffee! Totally intrusive and amateurish.

I'd be holding my head in disbelief if I was on the production team having crafted out the writing, camera shots, editing and post production to find the Marketing department go and shove an ugly caption over a key scene. It just proves they couldn't care less about the quality of output going out, providing they get their message across.

What next? IPPs on iPlayer?

Which ident is that? The Mission Control one?
