Lovely to see BBC One being taken over by sport today, practically 12:15 till midnight. Rolling Eyes

Lovely to see BBC One being taken over by sport today, practically 12:15 till midnight. Very Happy Wink

I assume you'd prefer an afternoon filled with Diagnosis Murder repeats? Saturday is traditionally sport day on BBC One, although I realise sport may not be to some people's taste. Thankfully, for those people there are many other channels with alternative offerings.

If anyone is interested BBC1 South West showed the London 8pm Headlines on Thursday 18th instead of the South West headlines.

Anyone know why?

Probably failed to opt in, is all. It could also have been a platform issue.

A couple of hours isn't bad, but a full afternoon and evening? There's really no need.

I don't enjoy sport - but it doesn't happen often and there will be a lot of people out there who will be enjoying the Six Nations. We will survive, it's not the end of the world.

Looks like Wales using there daffodils ident again although sounds as if they are using a fx version of the petals ident instead of the moon soundtrack

They made a few changes to the ident itself too: the BBC One logo appeared at the start rather than the middle and the former predominantly white swirls were changed to predominantly red ones.

BBC Northern Ireland had Saint Patrick's Day themed "Next" menus on both BBC 1 NI and BBC 2 NI a few days ago... but it looks like no one here captured them.

Once digital switchover is complete, do we think BBC Sport will be side-lined to a digital channel such as BBC Three (or maybe a BBC Sport Channel/Red button) in order to avoid messing with BBC One schedules?

No ... and it shouldn't be either. What messing is there today, no programming has been changed from the published schedules.

That's as may be, but normally Saturdays are not 100% sport.

Why should sport be sidelined? BBC One is the flagship channel - do you think sport in unpopular and should be shunted to BBC Three because Keeping Up Appearances is more worthy?

Agreed, but it annoys me that people seem to want to maintain the same or similar schedules for 52 weeks a year. Viewers should delight in change and this evening is such. It's not as if there's only three alternative channels these days. Dumping Sport onto less important services to maintain 'the same old material' on prime channels is crass stupidity, imo.
