Why have the BBC made 'So You Think You Can Dance' look and sound just like The X Factor? I'm sure it works in America where they don't have The X Factor but why would anyone watch the show in this country?

It was created by Simon Fuller who created 'Idol' which was a heavy influence on X Factor so it's not surprising there are similarities

Surely someone at the commissioning stage must actually watch British television. How could they not spot the fact that this show has already been shown on ITV1 in all but name.

What are you talking about? One's about singing, one's about dancing. How are they exactly the same?

I've just seen the Penguins ident on BBC One (B1) prior to the start of The National Lottery: In It To Win It. This was a shortened version of the Penguins ident that was first used Christmas 2007. Unlike Christmas 2007, there was no red Christmas tree in the middle. The music was different to that used in the Christmas 2007 Penguins ident, and the banjo music in the non-Christmas Penguins as introduced Feb/Mar 2008.

Nothing unusual, TT.

I have to say the music in the Penguins ident sounds better without the added sounds such as clapping and cheering:

It also sounds nice without the VO Very Happy

Looks like the current BBC Two programme "The Triple Cross" is being simulcast on BBC One (Scotland at least) - someone obviously flipped the wrong switch! Rolling Eyes Laughing

EDIT: And we're back. That lasted at least five minutes...

On New Yr's day, and I've only just realised this, but David Tennant did the CA as 'The Doctor' into the End of Time, Part Two. Started up all upbeat and jolly, logo came on, then Tennant started to speak in his sad tone. "This is the Doctor" and the music changed to the solemn ident used before the News, blending quite well. He went on to say how it was the End of Time, the Master had taken over, and the episode started. Nice touch, especially the blending of music.

Was there any mention of this from the CA at the end of whatever programme was on BBC One?

Just watched the clip on the other topic again and I'm not sure I agree - it just sounded like the music's volume was ramped right down.

No - it's definitely a mix into the mellow music. If you listen to the full standard ident, there's sleigh bells all the way to the end - whereas in the EOT-P2 ident, they aren't there after the Doctor's speech.
