I wonder when the BBC One Christmas Adverts start airing. They normally start around the 1st don't they? Smile

I think I read that the first one is airing on BBC One on Saturday 12th December

Was that a strictly ident then?

I hope that is a bit of sarcasm as 12th December is far too early. The 19th would be bad enough, but at least that's when the Christmas schedules begin to kick in.

If they really want to air them earlier I think the Christmas idents should only be shown to introduce Christmas specials through to as late as Christmas Eve, when it could then be used for all programme junctions.

It was. It's debuted a few weeks ago when the show came from Blackpool. Of course it would have made more sense to introduce it at the start of the series and have Neon lead into the Strictly edition from Blackpool. Rolling Eyes

SillyTilly is actually being serious, the idents ARE launching on the 12th.

When the BBC debut the Christmas idents it always felt that Christmas really is now here and this made them special. They are now turning into the commercialised 'Christmas is still weeks away' format of a Christmas supermarket advert.

Airing them across almost 2 weeks of normal schedules is just not required.

Yes, sorry about that. I have seen the finished ident (I think it's excellent but then I'm biased) but can't say any more until the TX.

Sorry Duncs but you'll never beat your announcement of 2007/2008 with the peguins ident, which I found actually quite funny " How do we get peguins to do that "

P.S Your 2008 Christmas Closedown was not too bad either. But please no turkey this year lol!

I hope the Network Presentation BigWigs let you get into the festive spirit with some interesting scripts, or heaven forfend Adlibs! You really are the Voice of BBC One for me...

Thank you mdtauk, that's kind of you to say. To be honest, I just try to write/deliver lines that would make me want to watch the programme but it's impossible to please everyone. I'm a fan of all the BBC voices, I listen to Matthew Jackson on BBC TWO and wonder "why didn't I think of that?"
Well I'm a big fan of your work.

Very witty and it injects some personality into the channel.
Hi. As I did the evening shift last year I'm on earlies this time round which means I get to watch Doctor Who at 6am!
You'll actually watch Doctor Who in the morning while the rest of us have to wait?

You were correct sir. They showed the very first Christmas trailer tonight and it featured their films.

Here it is.

Incidentally, the floating BBC lightboxes seen at the beginning of that clip are a device that is carried over to BBC Two's Christmas pres. Makes a change from sparkles, I suppose. I hope they use white trail endboards this year as last year's continual switching between white W&G stings with red logo, to red endboards with white logo looked a bit sloppy.

As for BBC Two...

Let's hope they leave the package as it is and don't try to bring it in line with the June 2009 style.

Oh crap...

That's the first time where I've seen the June 2009 rebrand on BBC Two actually look quite nice on screen!
