Seeing as they were submitted by 2 entertain Video Ltd it looks like they'll crop up as a DVD extra.

You're probably right. On the Wallace and Gromit boxset that I have (released before last year's special came out), they had all of the BBC2 Christmas presentation that they featured in as a DVD extra.

This means the Christmas Ident will be on for a day short of two weeks before the big day itself. I don't want to hark back to the past but I use to remember when they use to air the evening of Christmas Eve through to Boxing Day and that was your lot!

Ah but these days the BBC want to get their moneys worth. I don't think nowadays the BBC would take too kindly to spending money on new idents and pres if they're just going to be in use for 2½ days and never to be seen again.

Oh I agree with that and the idents these days are on a grander scale than those stuck on a record player turntable but two weeks before Christmas Day of the same ident on every junction to me is a bit of overkill.

Yes, sorry about that. I have seen the finished ident (I think it's excellent but then I'm biased) but can't say any more until the TX.

Will you be on BBC One duty on transmission day Duncan?

Hi. As I did the evening shift last year I'm on earlies this time round which means I get to watch Doctor Who at 6am!

I hope the Network Presentation BigWigs let you get into the festive spirit with some interesting scripts, or heaven forfend Adlibs! You really are the Voice of BBC One for me...

Thank you mdtauk, that's kind of you to say. To be honest, I just try to write/deliver lines that would make me want to watch the programme but it's impossible to please everyone. I'm a fan of all the BBC voices, I listen to Matthew Jackson on BBC TWO and wonder "why didn't I think of that?"

Yet another device, and of course totally unnecessary, for the Beeb to graffiti all over the programming we've paid for. This appeared 30 mins into the film,

Covering of backsides going on there I reckon. Absolutely unnecessary of course.

That particular slug is the one usually overlaid over the credits if there is no squeeze. Terrible design, and the other IPP that appears during daytime isn't much better. A red version of BBC Two's slug would be an improvement (if one is needed at all).

I presume the anno before the show forgot to give the strong language warning so they shoved this up as an attempt at compliance? It definitely appears to be just one of the standard templates, not anything grand or specific.

Having said that, I still challenge anyone to beat C5's in-show caption during an episode of trashy US soap Sunset Beach. Two women were looking at a hand drawing of a man and remarking how it resembled "Ben". It did not, and at the point where the two bimbos were practically gushing their brains out about how much it "looked like ben" a subtle blue bar appeared at the bottom that read "We know it doesn't look like Ben, just play along OK? xx"

Apparently not. The standard 'strong language' announcement was made at the start too.

Apparently they did forget, was reading Brooker's tweets last night and they did forget to announce that there would be strong language.

Oh, and...

"We know it doesn't look like Ben, just play along OK? xx"

That just made me look like a tool laughing in the library haha.

I wonder when the BBC One Christmas Adverts start airing. They normally start around the 1st don't they? Smile
