Slight cock-up at the end of EastEnders: Omnibus this afternoon. Credits started, then went into something like Countryfile then the ECP started, Countryfile got reduced, subtitles for the said programme started, and then came back to full-screen... stayed on air for about 10 seconds, and then the EastEnders credits decided to come back...

The ident going into Points of View was slightly odd too... long start to Capes and the CA started talking about Songs of Praise and then said at the end "...and that's after this" to a very short crash into the PoV titles...

Will you be uploading a video of this?

Anyone know what the nations did?

Unfortunately I'm watching on Freesat and unable to upload video as laptop doesn't have HDMi cable input Sad

This was posted on Gallifrey Base by someone who has apparently seen the Christmas Ident.

It starts off with a mid-range shot on Tennant walking across a snowy scene, he comes across the TARDIS but it's half burried in snow and surrounded by reindeer. Close on on Teenant's face as he smiles and then cuts to the TARDIS on it's side flying through the air with Tennant sat on top being pulled by the reindeer. It ends with them all looping-the-loop around the BBC logo.

I don't know if its true but I thought it was worth posting Smile

If that is true, it actualy sounds pretty good and Christmassy too. It had been suggested by some forum posters in previous years that it would be nice to see bbc1's christmas ident as Santa looping round the logo, so I guess this would be the next best thing. Smile

It also sounds like a longer sequence prior to the logo appearing, rather than the instant logo form-up of the current idents.

Does anyone else know if this is indeed how the ident will look?

As far as I know and from the comments posted on Gateway earlier this week, it does sound like this will be ONE of the Christmas idents for BBC One. And as it's Christmas looks like the BBC are going back to basics with the logo. There has been quite a lot of programme stings made featuring The Doctor too!

For those that can access Gateway have a look at Press on there.

Yes from what I know that is how the Dr.Who ident will look, with the doctor ending up having to try and dig the tardis out of the snow, the menu's and other graphics are very christmassy aswell

Reindeer!! Surprised

Will they be real reindeer or CGI ones?

And will there be twinkly stars and everything as well??

I imagine they will loop-the-loop once, creating a sparkly circle as the logo forms up and then fly out of shot on the opposite side of the screen. They would then circle round the snowy scene to come back in shot and fly right past the camera (temporarily obscuring the logo) where we see a brief close-up of Dr Who and the reindeer Shocked Because it's going to be a bit lame if they just keep looping-the-loop indefinitely...

So the rumours about the Doctor Who Christmas ident were true? I did say months ago that as it was BBC1's big show over Christmas that it was very likely to feature in the idents. Also if part two of Tennant's final story goes out on New Year's Day then it can be shown for the whole holiday.

I wish Suzie Chan was around to give us more details. Does anybody know when the BBC will start showing their Christmas idents?

EDIT:Sorry just went back a few pages and read it. Didn't get any email notifications of new replies so missed all of the exciting news!

December 12th seems to be the date floating around. Again perhaps Suziechan could help us here?
Also any word on bbc2's christmas ident this year?

Oh almost certainly real. Reindeer are renowned for their ability to perform perfect gravity-defying BBC One logo formations. Wink

I'm sure a member, possibly yourself Chie, posted an ident idea two years ago that was incredibly similar to the plot for this year's, just exchange the Doctor for Santa.

I'm not sure where this date has originated from. From memory in the past they've tended to launch about a week prior to Christmas, in which case 19th December would be more likely.

December 19th would be a better start date. The evening of Friday 18th would also be viable, I remember the christmas idents launching on this day in 2000 and again in 2001.
