I wonder whether it's just to promote Bang Goes The Theory or if they'll keep it.

I think so, just by the nature of the ident being an experiment involving bikes powering light-bulbs and the fact the ident is very different to the others in the set (i.e. no form up or different shots, and the logo is actually part of the ident). The announcement was also very Bang Goes the Theory related.

I quite like it as a special ident, though if my theory goes bang ( Laughing ) then I don't think I'd like it as a permanent fixture.

Nice ident, seems strangely 'retro' in a 90's sort of way.

That is probably the most nasty cheap looking Ident I have ever seen. It has a completely different ending style and thus doesn't match the rest of the BBC One Ident set. I dislike the way the circle is not central, how the BBC One logo isn't pure white, the background is too pale and the lights are not bright enough to see clearly if they are on or off and that idiot at the end annoys me very much.

I agree. It just doesn't match the rest of the idents at all. I don't like the fact it doesn't have the normal white circle form-up and the transparency on the logo itself (or different colour font) doesn't look right.

I don't really like the concept of it either. If the camera had panned down to one of the wheels that would have been better but I'm just not sure at the moment.
All in all this Ident wants to make me kill myself.

Ehh, not quite.

It doesn't seem like a proper BBC One ident somehow Confused

I don't like the faded colour effect they've used.

There seems to be a lot of fuss about a fun little ident.

It's TV Forum Neil, people are always flinging themselves off of buildings when a new ident they don't like appears.

I think the major problem here is that posters keep telling us that they will top themselves, but seldom are as good as their word.

Commitment = corpses.

That's all I have to say.

I can't help wondering why they went to the trouble of shortening all the existing idents, and having the logo form up straight away, only then to introduce a new one which doesn't match the new format at all.

I also think the whole premise for the ident seems rather contrived and bizarre - a load of people pedalling to light up a circle of crappy lights and getting rather too excited about it. I could almost expect Paul Whitehouse to wander on at the end, connect the lights up a car battery and ask, "Anyone fancy a pint?".

As ever, Mr Scott, you speak with wisdom.

You're right. It is bizarre.

Unlike Stepford Wives with lawnmowers mowing in circles or swimming hippos or skating penguins or people putting pieces of the moon into the sky or neon signs coming to life...

But those are all meant to be a bit surreal, whereas I'd argue this one is meant to be a bit more 'everyday'. It's not bizarre enough to be truly unusual, but too contrived to be natural. It's just a bit lame really.

I can see you're easily satisfied...
