Although considering BBC2's recent efforts I wouldn't rule it out. Also considering this years Christmas idents haven't been universally hated do we reckon they'll be used again next year. Wouldn't mind if they were, though it would be nice if they added one or two new ones to the mix along the same theme.

There is a chance they could be used next Christmas, unless BBC1 undergoes a refresh with its idents this year (2015).

Mod edit: the rest was off topic. Further replies have been removed

BBC Yorkshire are slipping in an extra programme at 10.25 and are timeshifting the rest of the evening by half an hour. Fans of regional opt out continuity, stand by.

Shame network trailed Pirates of the Caribbean 'next' before the lottery results. Do they not do regionally-safe junctions any more? Who was the CA in Leeds?

Looks like we've got regional continuity for the night. Announcing Pirates of the Caribbean on 'BBC One Yorkshire' with a BBC One Yorkshire ident.

I remember reading in this thread people had noticied BBC1 using all different fonts when promoting shows and what not, but I discovered another this time during Eastenders. Possibly a silly one to bring everyone's attention to but in the credits they had listed the 2014 cast and crew. It read "Eastenders was brought to you in 2014 by..." They had made an attempt at the font used for "Eastenders" in the opening but it wasn't the same.

Bit of a poor attempt, considering they only have to reuse the font in the credits once a year you'd think they'd get it right.

On a completely different topic (sorry declan!)...

Considering that for most of the '90s they just stuck a pre-recorded review show with Angus Deayton on, it's nice to see BBC One are putting some extra effort into New Year's celebrations again after last year's concert with Gary Barlow, this year a live concert with Queen and Adam Lambert. In previous years we've gotten a basic live show from the Thames linking into the fireworks at midnight, so I wonder who decided to up the budget?

Ah no worries, I discovered the Eastenders thread and posted it there.

Up here we get a different kind of celebration with BBC Scotland but I really fancy the one being offered down South, as I do sometimes feel we get the same old stuff with nothing new or surprising.

BBC Scotland have been struggling since the end of Scotch and Wry. And if you remember the programme on BBC Four a few years ago , they tend to stick to the same formula for the Hogmanay Show. Pity they can't do something different, like even going to Stonehaven to show The Human League. Really hoping that Queen are going to be shown on the news channel. Pity BBC Scotland don't repeat the programmes they don't show after they've finished their offerings.

At least back in the 1970s and 80 STV and Grampian would actually broadcast each other Hogmanay shows ether the next day or towards the end at 00.30. Mind you STV started to give up with new year show around 1989? with pre-recorded scipted shows, at least the early evening line up was alright with Celeb speical, Scotland the what, the Steamie. By 1993 it was down the dumps.

BBC Scotland was still going strong until 1999, At least there has live show from Glasgow etc, only an exsuse,

Here is the line up for 1993/94: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vntLNHJ7LNc#t=49 who is voicing that promo, and can you spot the 2014 Commonwealth games clip Wink

It was Still Game that helped push the double comedy in 2003 with Still game taking over but that finished 8 years ago and since then its been repeats etc.

I do enjoy the still game special but when they started showing repeats it was just boring. I'm hoping we'll get a new one next year though with talks of a new series, I imagine that if production began 2015 for a 2016 release they could launch a new series with episode 1 at new year?

Only an excuse is good but I feel it's gone stale and no doubt on this year's they'll just go on about the referendum - be surprised if they didn't.

I do in fact remember one year when both BBC1 Scotland and STV completely missed the countdown, does anyone else?

I think up here they really need to invest some time into or why not just run one single show? The budget would be higher and we aren't in a different time zone (although without getting too political I'm sure the SNP would have fought with the sun to be different to England had we gone independent). I don't see any cultural on regional influence on the one from London to be honest so having one, United welcome to the new year would please me if it resulted in a better quality service.

I had every intention of recording/capturing this but for a variety of reasons failed to.

Can't be that many regional closedowns with Christmas idents.

Not sure who the announcer was, but they were pretty good at it!
samwsmith1, NC5 and WMD gave kudos
