If only there were some longer versions of the idents that had, say, 12 seconds or so before the logo form up that would suit longer junctions like this.

Some fairly major variations on BBC One Scotland on Monday 25th, to reflect the fact it's not a bank holiday there, and also to give some more prominence to the referendum debate.

Network has the teatime news and regional news between 1730 and 1800, followed by Kids Countryfile; Scotland gets the full hour of news between 1800 and 1900.

in Scotland the referendum debate is on BBC One between 2030 and 2200; in the rest of the UK it's on BBC Two.

(the debate is also simulcast on the News Channel and Radio Scotland.)

The 10 O'Clock News is listed as being 20 minutes in Scotland but only 15 on Network - though I suspect this means it'll just be a slightly longer Reporting Scotland rather than there being an awkward opt point...

Would surely make more sense for them to have a full Reporting Scotland after the 10pm news to analyse the debate.

or surely BBC Scotland will be pushing people to switchover to their opt for the Scotland Debate to get the full review, and get the largest audience they can.

A couple of pages back we discussed tone used by continuity announcers promoting the 10 o'clock news

They haven't learnt anything from this, it seems, as the tone of the announcement just now on BBC Two was more akin to a drama series than actual real events.

Just to point out Scotland 2014 will have an extended programme at 10pm - 10.45. straight after the debate, so no need for longer reporting Scotland.

If anyone is wondering Countryfile will be on at 7pm on BBC two Scotland. But the one show is scrapped for the night.

Oh, they missed a trick with this one: the red phone box could have been replaced with the TARDIS!

That's standard for an English bank holiday, isn't it?
The Edinburgh Tattoo is on in its place. Was that not traditionally shown on New Year's Day?
