I have to criticise BBC One's service last night. I presume after McClory's win at the Open, they apologized for being late. BUT, after that they forgot about it.

They should have introduced Seven Wonders of the Commonwealth as "slightly later than advertised". Same for the BBC News that followed. I believe they cut the news short (although not by much) to keep things on time after that too, which is slightly annoying when the MH17 and Gaza stories are big!

A bad night, I hope they cope a bit better when they do the Commonwealth Games, not necessarily keeping it on time, but making sure apologizes and appropriate announcement are made if they are late.

I thought last night went as scheduled? The Golf was scheduled to finish at 7pm which it did and The Seven Wonders Of The Commonwealth was always scheduled for 9.10-10.10pm.

BBC1 have just had a breakdown going out of the BBC News simulcast when the weather was supposed to appear. Consisted of the Monday evening programme menu and that same ceefax track that they have used since about 2010. Basically the same as what happened during May last year.

Didn't see when it started but the BBC News Channel had a static caption when I switched on at about 559am then went into the countdown at about 30 seconds to go then for the first 3 minutes or so of Breakfast then was no sound

Yes, everything last night went out exactly as scheduled. Amazed nobody's mentioned the menu they showed at 7pm too!

McClory won the Open?

BBC News will be ever so embarrassed having announced a screenwriter won one of golf's coveted titles.

Got a retro question, bringing you back to a time that you might want to forget, TV Forumers - was there ever a copy released of the 2002 BBC One Clock? BBC Marketing cut it last minute, but has it ever been leaked out?

I have this in my bookmarks. I can't remember where it's from but I think someone shared it on Twitter, possibly posted in the comments of an MHP PP file http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=14ca7hl&s=5#.U85Eyqg2wjV

The image looks like it was recorded onto VHS. Presumably not an off air recording, maybe recorded internally?

Now I've seen that, I have a feeling I've seen that before. Any reason as to why it was culled?

It was a last minute decision wasn't it, as you said. Although I'm surprised they didn't bring it back for the Queen Mother's death.

They used a still of Ballet, didn't they? I suppose they thought it was more appropriate...

...because Movement is a wonderful way of conveying sadness.

I may be wrong but there used to be a live version that worked on your desktop and worked in real time.

I thought the issue was that the BBC One logo was in slightly the wrong place so fades from trails etc into the clock would look poor.

I remember something like that, back in the day Laughing
