I saw the extended new version of the Hippos ident yesterday, and was interested to note that the red fish *did* swim over the BBC logo. Am I right in thinking they don't on the shorter version?

Not from what I've capped, unless it's been re-edited again?

It's wired actually, when the first lot pass over they don't swim over the logo as they used to, however when a second lot cross they do (just):

Did these get a mention on Points of View last week?

Today's was a BBC1 special with controller Jay Hunt, but the idents weren't mentioned at all. She did tell us though that they've got some innovative original Saturday shows coming up though - in somewhat of a coup they've managed to get Graham Norton to host one of them. That'll make a change then. Wink

Also fobbed off complaints about The One Show starting early by blaming it on the nature of live shows (the news), rather than admitting it's to get it on air before Emmerdale.

Both sets of fish definitely do not swim over the logo in the short edit:

Yes - that comment didn't do much for her credibility.

Viewers complained about the programme starting EARLY. Yet she went on to explain that this was due to live news programmes (national and/or regional news) OVER-RUNNING?!

'The One Show' consistently gets underway before 7pm each night. This is clearly completely intentional.

And it's not as if it's even common for the Six o'clock News to over run even if that were a valid excuse.

Another thing which annoyed me, but more down to Points of VIew than Jay Hunt, was that although the complaint about Reggie Perrin being repeated within 24 hours was raised, the opposite problem wasn't. Apart from EastEnders and The Apprentice, pretty much every other primetime programme doesn't seem to get a "narrative" repeat at all on any of the BBC channels (excluding the odd-thing in Sign Zone, but that's often a few weeks later).

I know we've got the iPlayer now, but that's not an option for everyone, and considering most shows on C4 and to a certain extent ITV get a repeat at some point during the next week, either on the main channel or on the digital channels, it's an area now where the BBC IMO is kind of failing.

I guess though that might be perhaps more a BBC3 issue than BBC1. I'm sure someone else could explain better, but basically at the moment a repeat of an original BBC3 programme, even if it's an edition of Two Pints screened dozens of times before, counts towards the channels quota requirements for original content. If the terms were changed somewhat so their quotas were based solely around new BBC3 programming, it woud open up the channel to be used more for some narrative repeats from BBC1 and BBC2 - not everything, but a chance to catch up with the flagship shows such as Waterloo Road and Ashes to Ashes would be arguably more beneficial to the licence fee payer than them screening Little Britain yet again.

BBC One currently showing the BBC News channel due to a power problem at the golf. A breakdown caption with new ident music (I think) was on for a few minutes.

Seven minutes of new ident music, including a few themes I don't think have been used yet. I'll try and get a video up later.

BBC One currently simulcasting with BBC News Channel. Due to the cabinet re shuffle happening at the moment.

I knew this would probably happen, just wondering if they will stick with it till 1pm, I doubt it

edit: BBC TWO showing an extended Daily Politics show, which may seem the news will be on till 11:30am Rolling Eyes

It's not made it as far as the EPG (on cable, at least), or the online schedule. Perhaps till 11.30, when the Daily Politics starts on BBC Two.

Yep BBC ONE Reverted to its normal scheduling, and the extended daily politics show is now showing on BBC TWO. Can't see them reverting to BBC News Channel again, unless Brown resigns lol.

Obviously if Labour have done really that bad then It be intresting to see wither the other regions would consider joining the programme fronted by David Dimblebly later on although, probably a long shot

Edit: Ive notice all regions are joining the programme with David at 1:40pm and is extended until 3:05pm.
Expect the BBC Scotland Switchboard to jam with complaints, although I reckon David will be brief to try and make the situation as broad as possible so viewers else where can tell on the wider issue here

There wasn't a News Report slide at the start of the simulcast, was there?
