Strange, tonight's episode of Holby City is already on iPlayer, the description saying it was on last night at 11.15 - it wasn't according the guides. Has this happened before?

It was on in Scotland last night at 11:15.

A combination of BBC Scotland showing Scottish-produced River City in its place tonight, and then having nowhere else in the schedule to place it later in the night as it goes its own way for Hogmanay from 10.20pm.

Scottish broadcasters tend to rip up the network schedules at this time of year. ITN is having to provide a separate bulletin specifically for STV tonight to allow it to do its through the bells programming.

BBC Two have (cross) promoted a Great British Bake Off event with a BBC One branded still slide - different from a usual programme slide; the lower-centred logo as used during trails, and instead of filling the majority of the screen with red, a full size image.

I do think that's a nice, visually appealing style.

Clean, simple and could still incorporate the logo's reveal animation. Would make a nice alternative if nothing else.

Similar to the 1997 style, a branding era the BBC have not since matched for its simple yet clean graphics.

That looks lovely! Hopefully we'll see that used more in 2014!

I also noticed it the other day when watching the American Rock Anthems documentary on BBC Four.

BBC One Wales taking a leaf out of Scotland's book tonight, taking their own national bulletin from the News Channel an hour later than Network's, because of the first episode of new bilingual drama Hinterland, which is over 90 minutes long. The Catherine Tate show is being pushed back to 11:20.

Interestingly for the second episode, going out on Monday 13th, they're splitting the episode into two parts either side of the Ten - obviously films have been aired like this on ITV but haven't seen the BBC do this with a single episode of a series before. For those unfamiliar with Hinterland, it's already been screened on S4C in an entirely Welsh-language version with ad breaks, and is due to air on BBC Four at some point too.
