Shocking news here as the BBC doesn't apologise (about a joke on Have I Got News for You) for once...

It is a shame DVB Cornwall is taking a sabbatical from the forum. He loves things like this.

Totally agree with HIGNFY, how else can you spin a joke out of the surname Van Cutsem....But then again I'd defend HIGNFY to the hilt...

The headline really should be "SHOCK AS HIGNFY DELIVERS FIRST MILDLY AMUSING JOKE IN 13 YEARS"

The real story is the Tories continuing attempts to undermine the independence of the BBC. They need to shut up and **** off.

Not only is that headline too long, but the quality of jokes hasn't been so high that only one joke has been mildly amusing in the past 13 years and the rest excellent - such a brown-nosing headline would be derided.

OK then, "HIGNFY Still Sh!T"

Very nice touch for The One Show to show Perfect Day in full tonight, with a little edit to remove the original BBC promotional stuff.

From what I saw, it faded out during the instrumental section - so didn't get to "reap what you sow" or the ending - but they still used the final shot with Lou to close... Perhaps for time.

Was it an edit of the promo? I assumed it was just the single version of the video - as would have been shown on Top Of The Pops, etc.

I'd have thought they'd have been edits of various lengths to use as and when - they wouldn't have played the full version everytime they aired it.

It is very unlikely that a version with the caption "Lou Reed 1942-2013" was made in 1997 though.

Yeah, scrap what I said - the final section was missing. Still, a good amount was shown though. And I guess there would have been a few versions without the "only possible thanks to the unique way..." text. My memory may be playing tricks but wasn't the video available on CDROM for those that bought the single?

That seems plausible for a CD released in the late 90s - but the scan of the cover artwork on discogs.com doesn't mention anything. (I think I have a copy of that somewhere, but back at my parents' house...)
