Not sure if this is the right place to ask this, but why does BBC 1 HD not take BBC London output when the regional opts are on? I only ask because I have been recording the Sunday Politics on HD channel for the last few weeks - it never works on BBC 1 SD - and it has a London opt on the menu at the start, but when it comes to the actual regional section, we just get holding graphic with the birds chirping.

Because not everyone lives in London, and the BBC want viewers to switch back to their regional version of BBC One at that time. However, any English region failing to opt for their local SP programme would end up transmitting BBC London to their region.

I don't live in London either but surely having something on there instead of birds chirping has to be better.

I don't get their policy, they'll happy rotate Regions for Inside Out but not bother for likes of Sunday Politics, I'd happy settle for a London, North West rotation as they're the only English regions in HD, but I doubt that'll change any time soon.

Suspect it is much easier to do this with standalone recorded shows than with opts within a live programme.

Just noticed BBC ONE HD is carrying BBC London news this lunchtime. I didn't think this was actually possible - I thought that London was an opt from the HD sustaining feed. I presume it's a mistake, rather than a new policy. The EPG states "This is BBC ONE HD" as normal.

The network sustaining feed is the News Channel for the one/six/ten on weekdays; AFAIK they still use BBC London for the weekend summaries. Of course, all of these should be blanked by the "This is BBC One HD" on the version you see at home, so it was probably just automation error.

No 8pm news tonight? Pres seemed to be padding with an old-school menu slide and the announcer out of Question of Sport.

Slightly odd junction at 8 on One - old-school menu with the Friday night lineup read by the network announcer in place of the news summary - rest of the junction (including network symbol) carried on Wales and Scotland. NI still did their news from what I saw - their CA apologised for technical problems.

The subtitles failed during The One Show too and we were left with the 888 locally generated DOG. Problems at Red Bee?

An evening rundown, how quaint! A nice change from just putting another trail in. Problems at NBH I guess?

I just watched the junction back on iPlayer. How long has Question of Sport not been available 'for legal reasons'?

Here is the programme page for the 20:00 news that wasn't shown...
