Should anything be read in to a tweet from @bbcpres ?

The gif it links to is bizarre given the globe at the end is non-existent... at the moment.

Looking at the other #innovation posts it seems to be a lot of the BBC's history, perhaps another "this is what we do" style promo/series coming up.

Makes you wonder what they were smoking when they came out with the shorter edits, the original versions always seemed stronger to me.

Someone on the 100th floor in a "blue sky" meeting thought it was a good idea, obviously.

Shorter edits made sense - some were overly bloated and the musical hook often got talked over... but then I thought that's why 5-8 second form-up versions had existed from launch? Originals when there was time to fill, relatively quick logo form-ups when there wasn't.

The 2009 edits were tactless: a strict 3 second template and **** it if it looks terrible. The loss of the little visual details like the kites flying over the logo and the complementary swirl colours indicate the lack of care. And the poppy Space/Mission Control music should just never have been allowed to happen.

Not the worst decision taken by BBC pres in summer 2009 though.

See that for Comic Relief, BBC ONE is simulcasting 'Glee Club' with CBBC in the afternoons, so there's some lee-way for certain Children's content afterall in the DQF resolution.

I love how they're now changing the text in the logo, like BBC Onesie yesterday. It kinda breaths a little bit more life into their now outdated and boring idents package.

BBC One Wales have been doing this for over 10 years.
