NC countdown into Breakfast transmitted on BBC ONE.

Is that just over Christmas or likely more permanment?

They play the NC countdown every Saturday and Sunday morning before Breakfast on BBC One, but during the week they usually play a BBC One ident.

Maybe it's just a Christmas thing for weekdays.

How did I miss this? When did this trailer go out?

Don't worry, you didn't - it's not been broadcast yet.

A promo for 'Love Drama' just aired, in the same fashion.

This 2013 design is now airing in various ways... Endboards on new year programme trails, promos like the above, and a short logo sting as seen in thegeek's earlier screenshot

Keep an eye out for this just before midnight on New Year's Eve on BBC1.

I think you'll find that Drama Lives on itv is their version of BBC One's 'Original British drama on the BBC' trail.
After recent ratings I think 'drama flops on ITV' would be more suitable. Laughing

What with a guy turning on a TV to BBC One at the start and tiled dots it seems to channel the feel of trails from 10 years ago.

Absolutely love that. The tubes effect - especially at the beginning when it forms out of the o from one - is lovely.

I would love it if we could get some nice clever animated cgi idents along those lines for BBC One and move away from this boring real life stuff we've had recently.

The current live action sequences are very loosely linked... I don't think it's strong enough to stick with either. If BBC 1 had an actual consistent form of symbol then it would be in a better position.

Too, I like the promo - whether that sort of CG approach would suit the idents depends on what it is being used for. I feel it's not so much about the method, as a good concept first - then from that, seeing whether it requires CG / live action / a mixture. BBC 1 doesn't much have a history of purely CG symbols besides the COW; in that respect. it could be interesting if they went that way now.

Having little stings in an animated style throughout the year would certainly be nice - but that, sadly, appears to be an aspect that BBC 1 can no longer be bothered with. In any event, BBC 1 does need a proper symbol to front its next look, whatever the technique.

Purely symbols (graphics/CGI) - 33 years
Live action - 15 years
