Almost certainly a cock up, I'm sure the BBC Branding Freaks are making their way right now to Red Bee, to get this disastrous situation resolved ! Sad

Enjoy its absence while it lasts.

So...er...is this BBC One HD...or...wha...I...don....even...what channel am I watching...I'm so hopelessly confused.

Guess I'll just switch off and never return.

Having watched an 'HD' recording of Monday night's DOGless Young Apprentice, it looked to me as if the programme was downscaled HD. Coupled with the other reported problems with BBC 1 on Monday night, it looks as if the main Pres suite for the channel might have crashed, and Red Bee used a standby SD suite to feed both HD and SD platforms ?

Anyone know what happened to Sherlock this year? It was shown on the 2010/2011 promo at the start of the year (which seems like yesterday)

It's been slated for the New Year for quite some time - widely expected to return on New Years Day.

Was it shown after Frozen Planet last night?

I have to say, I have been enjoying the BBC One channel films this year - things like this and the Bring Me Sunshine do a good job of showing that you do get rather a lot of good stuff for your licence fee.

Yes it was shown straight after the last episode of Frozen Planet.

I loved it, I hope they show it again.

Such beauty.

I have to say that watching that gave me such a feeling of pride in the BBC. For all its faults the world would be a sorrier place without the Corporation.

No they showed a load of celebs in Christmas jumpers during HIGNFY singing "Consider Yourself" from Oliver with a BBC One logo form-up at the end. I think it might have just been one of the promos rather than the actual ident though...

Can't see it being used as an ident as a) it strays away from the usual BBC One ident theme tune and b) Can't see how they'd do a serious/news version of it!

Maybe not, but I've seen it several times now, and it would be rather slick to keep it on the 'form up', and announce the next programme over the top ? Not appropriate going into the news, but fine for a lot of BBC 1 programmes.

It seems rather messy to cut to another ident, and do a follow up 'form up' just 5 seconds later ?

(Blimey I'm sounding like one of them creative types !)

I believe it was 1987 when on occasion they did just that.

Intrestingly enough having looked at the consider yourself promo for bbc one I do think that part of the promo will be used for the main Christmas ident, I reckon the last couple of seconds, then to the form up. Obviously the music will be considerably different but again I reckon the jingles will stay and the 1st TX will be this saturday which is the general time as it always launches on the final night of the x factor for some reason.
