guff guff guff and finally the already mentioned odd strip-style logo used on YouTube/BBC Online videos for shows on BBC One.

Yes yes yes... it is this I want you to furnish us with further examples of rather than your one tiny cut out logo, as I have not seen a straight strip used on the bottom of the screen at all , yet you say it is widespread. Please back up your claim with a Youtube video, or web link, or full-screen grab.

Look at all videos on YouTube/BBC Online that advertise BBC One programmes. They have that logo in the corner: http://www.youtube.com/bbc

Look at the "Life's Too Short" clips as well. They have a correctly sized version of the BBC Two logo in strip-form. Inconsistent at it's best.

OK so it's taken this long to establish you were talking about the DOG, rather than the logo at the bottom of the screen during trailers and promos. Thanks for making it so crystal clear.

The DOG on BBC One HD is not perfect either.

Sorry, just an honest mistake, no need to get so annoyed about it. I thought it was pretty obvious seeing as I put an actual image of it in my post and most people recognised it straight away.

I thought you made it clear. I never once thought you meant it was used on-screen.

As much as I like the current BBC One logo, it is quite unworkable as a DOG and also looks untidy next to other BBC logos (hence the box).

Does anyone else hear something wrong with Signs on BBC One HD (Freesat for me), but not on BBC One? It sounds like one of the channels have been inverted so the sound is out of phase - sounds like I'm listening to it from inside a bucket.

On Freeview HD too.

Such sound issues are beginning to become a regular occurrence on BBC ONE HD - < dailymail > not something you'd really expect from the main national broadcaster < /dailymail > Wink

Similar observations have been made over the weeks in this thread.

Ugh. I was going to say that using celebs will make the ident unusable in years to come, but here's hoping there are plans soon-to-be-revealed that the circles are going.

That would be interesting, we haven't had a major ident change on the "Big 5" in a while (which I guess is what we're going to call them after terrestrial ceases to exist).

The Desmondification of Five? Sky's tie-everything-together push in February? ITV's digital channels are due shortly, as was BBC4 but that's seemingly been put on hold.

ITV1's flying yellow objects, though too pedestrian in my mind, remain the best they've had post-unification, solid and well-rounded. Similarly, the circles could go on if they're able/want to reinvent the wheel slightly, adding to replace. C4's could remain indefinitely.

I'm forgetting someone... ah yes. Urgent action required. Preferably tomorrow.

Gyles Brandreth's package about Party Political Broadcasts on today's One Show was preceded by the blue on black mirror globe. Unfortunately it was the CGI version network used for Life on Mars with the mirror at an odd angle rather than the real McCoy, but nice to see nonetheless.
