Might be missing something, but I assume it was a mistake that gave Would I Lie To You a "Next" strap with the hashtag in it tonight?

Fading up the hashtag using that BBC1 red caption is a 'mistake' what ever way you look at it!

Indeed, I saw it too. Someone obviously forgot to get rid of the 'Next' part on the strap. Regardless, it looks very bare with just a Hashtag...

BBC Two actually had as nice an IPP as you're gunna get before the iPlayer knock-off set came in.

Haven't got a cap to hand but it was basically a 1 line teal strap, animating in/out with a cursor effect.

There was this in 2008:

and this in 2009:

both of which started with a blinking dark blue cursor.

Personally I preferred the latter.

Nice to see use of the 1997 standard "BBC Two" there.

Someone went a bit click happy with the semi-automated Alan Dedicoat on last nights Strictly Come Dancing.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/i/b016vl13/?t=1m48s (if this link plays from the start, fast forward to 1:48 to hear the fun).

Dedi-bot spoke over himself and said the wrong things at the wrong time. Interest that the phrase "Welcome to Strictly Come Dancing" and "Halloween Special" seemed to be two different clips. I guess it was too much to ask him to record the whole phrase as one clip.

Is this the BBC delivering quality first? Is it cheaper to get Didicoat to record the words "Halloween Special", "Christmas Special" and "Second coming of Christ Special" as separate phrases and then play them out live on the night. Maybe they can sell the clips of Dedicoat saying "Halloween Special" and "George W Bush Special" to whichever BBC company makes Dancing with the Stars.

Was Sir Bruce Forsyth automated last night too?

I guess Deadly would have commitments to do the lottery draw voice over live, and couldn't do both?

I don't think he has ever done Strictly Come Dancing live nor would I expect him to, his script would be basically the same each week. It was just surprising that he doesn't seem to record complete phrases and instead someone has to put his words together live. It reminds me of early football video games where Barry Davis would record "Welcome to", "Wembley", "Old Trafford", "Emirates Stadium" and the game would put them together to form complete sentences with varying levels of success. Obviously there was a reason to do that in video games what with memory and storage space being limited but I can't think of any similar reasons to do the same on a live TV show.

It would be like him recording the numbers 1 to 9,10,11,12,13,15,20,30,40 and the word 'teen' (18 recordings) instead of just saying the numbers 1 to 49 for The National Lottery.

Yup, even some unloved efforts are still there somewhere.

The original Helicopter soundtrack is stunning, I wonder if they will ever re-use the original for say, Obits and such like. It has an incredibly moving and sombre feel which is lacking in the current ident themes.

If BBC Two had made a real effort, this set could have been iconic and very memorable, much like the famous 1991/1997 set.
