There's a regional opt out on Saturday at 17.10, with London, South, East and South East replacing A Question of Sport with a documentary about the M25.

Well spotted. Looks like it could be interesting too.

Presumably this'll will require four or five people to be in the news galleries to opt early, since Red Bee will be providing the sustaining feed.

Can't imagine the regional news directors will be too happy if this ties up the galleries so they can't rehearse.

That Frozen Planet is a lovely next/later caption. The ident isn't the most spectacular but nice nonetheless.

Breakdown during the Sign Zone this evening. Very apologetic announcer accompanied by some very soothing music!

Does the announcer's shift not finish until later now? Or did it seem pre-recorded?

I would say that it was certainly live, as the announcer had that slighlty flustered agitation in her voice. It wasn't a calm, measured announcement.

As an aside, there's a nice breakdown caption on PBS - and it hasn't even launched yet!

There's been a weird sound fault at the start of the last two episodes of EastEnders on BBC1. An odd crackling noise that varies in line with loudness of the programme audio - mainly apparent during the opening music and when characters are speaking. On both nights, it disappeared about a minute or so into the programme.

I've watched a few programmes on BBC1 over the last few nights but this odd problem only seems to have affected EastEnders.

Your post seems to have got lost amongst talk of break downs, opt outs and new idents. Nothing of note to discuss for ages and then at least 4 things come along at once. The crackling you describe seemed to start during the 'Get online' promo and then continued over the next promo, the ident and then in to the first few seconds of EastEnders as you describe.

I've only seen the 'Get online/give an hour' promo twice and it featured crackling both times.

Might be missing something, but I assume it was a mistake that gave Would I Lie To You a "Next" strap with the hashtag in it tonight?

Fading up the hashtag using that BBC1 red caption is a 'mistake' what ever way you look at it!

How long have Sign Zone programmes been introduced with the Next/Later caption? Just had one now for QT with "Now Question Time Signing & Subtitles" with the anno giving a brief introduction.

Brief glimpse of the sport/crowd ident before a cut to a BBC One London ident - presume South East and East got their own versions too?

BBC East had their own ident voiced by David Whiteley who presents the East edition of Inside Out.

No such glitch on BBC South, clean in and out of that 'Bikes on a roundabout' ident. Quite a good programme, would be worth showing it nationally on BBC 4 next time they run a repeat of their excellent 'Secret Life of the Motorway' strand ?,
