Strange start to The One Show today. Alex Jones started to introduce a report on the riots but then stopped mid-sentence and threw to an live OB with Angela Rippon where the cameras weren't on the correct shot.

After the OB, they introduced the report again and part way through an error message 'Unrendered' appeared so they back to the studio again where they introduced another report instead.

Also, not the most surprising news, Chris Evans seemed to drop a hint that Alex Jones may be appearing in Strictly Come Dancing. Dancer or presenter? That wasn't clear.


This article says she'll be a dancer next season.

QT was recorded at TV Centre rather than a venue not usually used for TV using an OB scanner. I suspect they used the studio gallery rather than the usual OB truck (BBC TV Centre was credited rather than Arqiva in the end credits). Prehaps the gallery has different graphics facilities to those in the truck and they had to convert/recreate the astons?

Was there a credit squeeze at the start of Panorama this evening? I thought I just caught one as I turned over.

How far did it go before someone noticed?

EDIT: Doesn't look like it is going to make it to BBC iPlayer until after the BBC News Channel repeat. Maybe they were recording it from the BBC One broadcast and don't want to upload it with the erroneous credit squeeze, although the BBC News Channel ticker is a worse thing to have on BBC iPlayer IMHO.

The credits squeeze is on the iplayer version. Kicks in at 0.06.

I have noticed in recent weeks there haven't been as many credit squeezes (particularly in primetime).

The most annoying credit squeeze recently is during the Only Fools and Horses credits. Rather than let me sing along to the theme, BBC One would rather remind me 'Pointless' is on at 5.15 EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. Yes, I get it, you told me yesterday, and the day before, and the day before... geez.
