I think that is from when they did the promotion 'The One to Watch' which highlighted a specific programme in that evening, so no I don't think we see that now. In fact, the whole 'The One' idea has died out really. They haven't been 'The One for Christmas' since 2007 I think.
This was used prior to the introduction of the new credit guidelines around 2007 as well. The old guidelines called for the credits to appear on one side of the screen so that an ECP could be layered on top at the side, in my opinion a much better solution than crushing the credits.
Do BBC One still use some promo endboards with 'The ONE' on, which transforms later into BBC One, seen here?

Also, is this what the ECP was going to be?

And last time the afternoon bulletin disappeared it wasn't long until it was reinstated. I think knocking 10 minutes off CBBC would be better, so it aired 3.15-5.15pm, allowing a news bulletin at 3.10pm.
So with Only Fools and Horses running in a 50-minute slot at 2.10pm, the lunchtime regional news is cut down to 10 minutes, and there is the notable absence of a mid-afternoon bulletin.

It's a 55-minute slot for two episodes. Digiguide lists them separately split at 14:38.
I don't understand why they are squeezing them in like that, presumably at the expense of proper titles and credits too. Surely they have something they could fill 15 minutes with if they just showed one episode per day? They could even re-jig CBBC a bit to fit 2 episodes in properly; start it 10 minutes later, get rid of the Shaun the Sheep repeat and cut Newsround down to 10 minutes (oh no the Daily Mail would be all over that).

The ECP took up too much space though, I remember the EastEnders credits looked weird on the UKTV Gold/Watch repeats.

Newsround is ten minutes long! It never starts before 5.05, despite what it says.

That doesn't sound good at all. Weren't the early episodes of Only Fools and Horses 30 minutes long? If both episosdes - which would need an hour together - are being squeezed into a 55-minute time slot, then that has to mean the credits won't be intact. And what will they do when they get to the Christmas specials and longer episodes towards the end of the series? Part of me thinks this is just a temporary filler and not a long term commitment

Did anyone else catch the problem on BBC1 last night?
When the Murray match coverage ended at 8pm they had an issue cutting away from the live feed of the Wimbledon crowd and it stayed on-screen for a long time.
After which the news update crashed in.
This was on the BBC1 HD channel so I presume the same thing happened on BBC1 SD?
Regional news ended up being shown at 8.30pm last night as well.

It did get a mention over on another thread - on SD, we were treated to the "Bring me Sunshine" BBC One promo.

Ah ok thanks for that.
It seems we get lots of little "treats" on BBC1 HD - first it was the loss of commentary on the F1 race the other week and now this.

Only Fools on BBC1:
No credits/titles between the two episodes. Just an Only Fools & Horses logo then the opening scene with the episode title at the bottom of the screen.
