So did you like it then? Does this mean we will have long versions still in existence of all of the idents? What perhaps they could do is when it comes to the end with t'BBC One' in the circle do the swirl again perhaps.
This goes back to what I was saying ages ago. BBC1 doesn't have an easily identifiable logo. The wording looks odd without a circle around it. A circle isn't a logo it's a general shape, the 'BBC One' and the circle need to be together for the look to be effective.
Well I think the only positive thing to come out of this repackaging is that Forrest is so much better, I do think they have ruined the rest of the idents though, although it is good to see kites make a return.

Forest was great as it was, the form up was great as was the music. But the new music is great and is even more eerie. But it's all change for changes sake if you ask me.
I think the new ident edits are rather good (although the new 'long' 'Capes' is not that good) very retro, harking back to the good old days when they had a musical sting then smooth music while the announcer talks over it.
I quite like these shorter edits (and that new long one of Capes).
I appreciate that some of the storylines have gone, but let's face it people can 'fill in the gaps' now, as they've seen the story versions enough times before (and if they haven't, they really won't notice).
Surely, in terms of strong brand identity, the BBC One wording needs to be on screen asap?
I've got very mixed feelings about these cut-down idents.
I do think it's a shame that some of the rather nice images creating the form-up of the circle have been ditched. Some of the new music is okay, but on the whole the original music seemed to have a bit more depth. The new stuff sounds a little cheap at times to me, especially compared to the likes of the outsandingly beautiful, haunting original Helicopter music, which I'm very sad has gone.
On the other hand though, I do think having the form-up at the beginning gives the channel's junctions a lot more pace, and strengthens the BBC One brand, so I can see the sense. Really for a change like this though, they could have done with a new set of idents with a new concept, as the original concept has now rather been lost. But I guess at the moment the BBC couldn't justify a totally new look.
I also think, for consistency's sake, they could do with changing the swirls to red on the logo form-ups on the trails too.
Are we still to see Mowers, Dogs, Penguins, Petals, Surfers and Space, or have people just not uploaded them yet?
A couple more observations: I’ve noticed how the logo has just been slapped on top of the idents now e.g. on kites, some of the kites used to fly over the BBC One logo but now they don’t. You can also see this on Hippos – the little fish now swim below the logo.
I also really dislike the formation of the logo before the formation of the circle, especially on long Capes. Looks very odd. The new music for Capes and Helicopter are definitely too upbeat for the news too.
Dreading penguins, dogs, space and mowers to be honest – they’ve got the biggest stories.
