Because its a holiday until thursday, I know it does not sound right but it the only logical reason

hogmanay is a much bigger thing in Scotland than in England

It's a holiday today in England but BBC1 presentation seem to think it is back to normal today

But oddly enough not BBC2, as they are still using their Christmas ident.

Just got Penguins in Scotland, thank God for Sky Digital as I can record a few more Penguin idents.

You will either have that again or Snowball at 15:25 as we seem to have several more days of the festive idents here in Scotland!

New idents normally launch at night. Before EastEnders would be the likely bet - or they might reserve it for Sense and Sensibility.

Good point, the new idents have always launched in the evenings. But I'll be keeping an eye out just in case.

BBC ONE, 7.30 tonight. Think Airwolf meets Silent Witness...

I'd go with The Insider - 1930 before EastEnders.

Bad luck for the BBC in 2008 then - they've taken their festive presentation down before the twelfth night of Christmas - tut tut! They put them up early and take them down early - would it not be more sensible to stick to the proper dates of Christmas rather than do that?

Name a channel who has kept Christmas presentation until the 6th January?

Next year is a bit different as New Year's Day is a Thursday meaning the Friday will probably be taken as holiday by many people. A good reason to run next year's idents 20th Dec to 2nd Jan I think

It's only bad luck to keep decorations up after Twelfth Night, isn't it? I always take mine down on 1st January, I can't stand Christmas decorations still being up in January.

There was certainly no need for BBC1 to return to normal pres today, especially when BBC2 has not. It's the second year running now - why is New Year's Eve no longer considered part of the holidays?

Correct. It is only said to be bad luck to remove them after Twelfth Night in this culture, which marks the coming of the Epiphany, on the 6th of January. However, certain cultures believe that it is bad luck to remove them on any date other than Twelfth Night.

I'm certainly looking forward to seeing this new ident, even if I will immediately switch over to avoid permanent scarring from EastEnders .

Perhaps Robert Williams is running pres at BBC1 under a pseudonym.
