Just called BBC and they have confirmed that there is a new BBC One ident launching tomorrow. The time is not confirmed.

Yes I heard there was going to be a new ident launching on New Year's Day and it'll be part of the set so not just for New Year's Day. I have to say that it does sound rather good. Maybe they'll use the slower one to lead into the news or serious programming.
