Thanks Simon. I remember him vaguely giving some superb continuity announcements during Christmas Eve 2004 about switching on lights, Santa etc. I think it was him anyway!

He was brilliant in 2004. I recently had the pleasure of re-watching those links while doing a dub for Kaleidoscope. Duncan is even a member here and came to say hello on Christmas Eve!

Skating for an ident would have suited the dancer era. What's the betting the ident will end with an aerial shot of skaters in a circle!

Or the mechanical era? The circles theme is more ambiguous and flexible than the dance one, so there are bound to be situations the ideas cross over.

To that end, they could have done something with robins Wink

Well I do remember Noel Edmonds blasting them to kingdom come with a shotgun on The Late Late Breakfast Show!! Very Happy

The ident doesn't sound too bad, but I'd like loads of effects and sparkle to stop it being just a 'winter' ident.

Oh, and Simon, I really like that idea for an endboard!

Anyone know when this year's Christmas Ident will be unveiled??

Last year it was Saturday 16th December, 2005 it was Saturday 17th December and 2004 it was Saturday 18th December.

If the patten is the same this year, the idents will be aired in 2 weeks, today.

GET IN!! Set the recorders people! Duncan is definitely my favourite of all the announcers on the BBC at the moment.

One classic link he did this week was when he was talking about The Armstrong and Miller Show looking at text messaging. Duncan said how you get one letter wrong and you get in trouble, and that he won't be asking anyone if they fancy a 'duck' for Christmas.

Brilliant! Very Happy

Just like asking 'has anyone seen my AUNT?"...

I was a little shocked at the joke I thought for 9pm it was a little dodgy - but funny indeed. Just what you need to keep the theme going, makes the continuity fit together more rather than standing out like a sore thumb.

Actually, I think the Armstrong & Miller anno was from Phil V- I'm sure he'll be very happy that you liked it

Oh yes that's it, I'm always mixing you two up. He's very good as well.

Is Phil on over Christmas? And one thing I've always wanted to know. When new idents get introduced do the announcers do continuity rehearsals? I remember Christmas 1987 and David Wheal always speaking too early before the music started on the BBC1 ident that year.
