You say it suits the time of year. Have BBC One started doing seasonal theming (other than Xmas) now? Is that why I haven't seen the "Lawnmower" one lately? I'm still trying to record that on video - I already have the ones added to the original set earlier this year: "Magic Forest" and "Space" (or whatever it's called). Has anyone else seen the "Lawnmower" BBC One ident in the last few weeks, or has that disapppeared until next spring or summer? I'd like to know.
I saw Lawnmower last Sunday afternoon and they seem to use it a lot as a lead in to dramas.

Yes, Lawnmowers is still very much active. I don't think the BBC have ever bought out season only idents before. So I think 'Neon' will be a permanent fixture.

Oh crap, it's called 'neon.' I'm guessing looknorth will be on any second now asking if this is a sign that the neon light '2' is coming back.

I agree they have got the best idents package, even though one or two of them let it down.

I hope they do a good Christmas ident this year. Last year's was boring. I want them to do one that starts off with shots of the family going to bed on Christmas eve (bedrooms decorated with red / gold decorations; children wearing Santa hats as they go to sleep). Then cut to Santa Claus and his reindeer 'taking off' in a snowy field in front of a magical North Pole. They fly across the night sky blazing a trail of 'sparkle' when the BBC One logo appears. The circle can be created by a formation of twinkling stars or something, I don't think a circle is that important for a one off as it restricts what can be done. A sting would be similar, the reindeer take off by flying almost directly into the camera, they shoot off above the camera just as they're about to smash into it, and the screen is filled with 'sparkle' and red as the sleigh leaves shot. Smile I tried to do a mock for all of this, but lack of access to a Santa Claus and a flock of reindeer made it impossible.

I doubt Santa would be PC enough for the BBC nowadays!

To have no more Santa in BBC Christmas symbols would be terrible - there's no reason why they shouldn't embrace the legend as they have done on occasions in the past - there's really no harm in it after all.

Personally I think this year the Christmas idents should be shown for one week maximum, followed by a different ident for the New Year. By New Year's Eve we were all bored to death by the (otherwise very good) Christmas ident because it was used for far too long.

I quite like the fact that they are used for a while, but maybe this year from the friday/saturday night before christmas day (on the tuesday this year), and end them on New Years Day. Last year/this year I hated the fact that normal idents were being used on New Years Day, especially when they had a few programmes that still had a Christmas Theme. But I do like the idea of a new years varient, like having the christmas ident (perhaps with a christmas tree) with fireworks in the background.

Well I thought these latest BBC One Idents were posh but after seeing this latest 'neon' ident I am not so sure. It is KER RASE SAY! But I like it. Hopefully they can create a cristmas ident as good as neon but knowing them I hope they produce one at all.
