This is an example of what NBC currently uses as a IPP, it's bigger which makes the BBC One IPP look tame..

But it seemed to be used to identify the programme too after a commercial break. IIRC Sky One used to do that about 10 years ago (but without the "next" bit).
I still can't see the point of this on BBC One. They've effectively removed the credit sequence for promotional purposes. They pad out gaps with trailers so their schedule matches commercial channels who make shorter programmes, now they want to creep into the actual programme itself - all with the same messages.
This is counter productive. People with either stop watching or learn to ignore them the same way I eventually ignore the person doing the signing on late night BBC/ITV repeats.

I just witnessed Beyonce Knowles and Shakira's exotic dancing in their music video being signed on The Hits by a, to put it politely, large woman of less attractive appearance, in a well-fitting red jumper, who was attempting to mimic their hip shaking. That was impossible to ignore.
In short, big red blobs at the bottom of the screen ruin TV.

I really don't see the need for this graphic at all. For one it's ridiculously huge and secondly it's not giving any more extra information.
Now around a programme we have a 'Tonight' etc. programme slide, then trailers for upcoming programmes, followed by an ident with a voice-over plugging programmes later on in the day, now this stupid programme strap, and finally a squashed credit ECP to tell us what's coming next.
Surely viewers aren't stupid enough not to realise what's coming next. I think that all is needed is an ident voice-over introducing the programme and mentioning something else later and then a programme slide after. I really don't see why there is the need for this useless marketing presentation to interfere with programmes so much.

This new IPP is pointless.
I saw it on Friday night - complete waste of time.
What's the point in having that IPP show up, then less than 60 seconds after it, they squeeze the end credits to show us what's on next - when we've just been told on the IPP! One or the other please - not an IPP and "What's next" on the credits.

Do you know if we'll have any new idents to look forward to for the return of Strictly and Robin Hood to BBC1.

There is a special Robin Hood endboard which features the logo in gold; looks very nice although it appears to be lacking the circle theme.
