I love his voice and presentation style but they need to sort out his sound levels. You can hardly here the recognisable theme at the end of the idents when he talks. And as much as I love the new idents and prefer them to the dancers, there's one thing they did right and that was having the tune at the start. Then the announcer would talk shortly after it.

And sometimes the logo only just forms before the programme starts. If you know how long the junction is, then you should have the right length ident to put on.

I have no clue who Peter Offer is.. Everything someone mentions him, I can't really picture it. Confused

BBC1 really need to sort out the sound levels on their continuity.

Before DanceX they faded down the sound on the ident so far that when the male announcer was talking you couldn't hear any of the music. What is the point of having recognisable music when nobody can hear it? You can be another room, hear the music and that's the cue to go to the television or know which channel the TV is on.

And I don't know who that male announcer is but they always put his microphone way up. They really need to look at Channel 4 and make notes.

I hate it when BBC does that!

That's why I'm waiting pateintly for the clean version of the crop circle ident to pop up on their website, but THEY ARE NOT POSTING IT for some reason...

You mean ' Everytime someone mentions him'? Wink

Probably you have no clue because he is the very 'straightforward' one with the closest to the 'traditional' accent and delivery, compared to other announcers who might make jokes more frequently, and / or be a bit over-enthusiastic - although I myself don't prefer either style over the other (having just one style could be boring) as long as it's clear and generally inviting.

I agree I think the continuity announcers that the BBC have are the best, but Trish Bertram would be a good addition along with Gary Terzza from Channel 4. He was excellent when he hosted CITV years ago.

And can I just reiterate that I have no problem with the announcers on BBC1, the problem I have is that they can't sort out the timings or the sound levels on BBC1.

This morning coming out of breakfast there was an ident with four or five women mowing the grass with lawnmowers and then it formed into a circle ident with patterns on the grass.

is this a new ident because i hadn't seen it before!

(No caps i'm afraid)

It's been mentioned already.

I'd use this as an attack on generic threads but given the MTV One situation it now appears people are just completely incapable of reading anything on the forum for themselves.

Engaging your brain to realise that my thread was not attacking you in the slightest not being one of them it would seem.

Excellent continuity from Duncan last night - a couple I caught included a "eugh" at the end of Jekyll and "...that's if you've got the red button. D'oh!" which having only caught the tail end of it I guess had something to do with The Simpsons movie!

Full marks to both Duncan and Becky on 2 last night at closedown for near enough full idents (Kites and Mirror), name checking their late team and a "goodnight".
