Oh, well, might as well mow the lawn once I get back from work...

Then again, I live in a flat, so I don't have a lawn....

BBC should've released this ident A LOT earlier, since it would fit with Doctor Who...
I think Space was the perfect one for Doctor Who. I hope the new idents don't dry up during the autumn.

What on earth has been going on today?! Earlier in the middle of To Buy Or Not To Buy I saw complete loss to black, sudden switching of aspect ratio, loss of sound and mangled picture all at different points...And just now, during Animal Rescue Live something threw a wobbler and we ended up with a brief flash of odd mangled patterns culminating in Colour Bars for a sec!

One of them days?

How come we weren't forewarned about this one? The insiders (marksi, denton etc) don't seem to tell us as much as they used to. Some of us would have appreciated being forewarned that BBC1 was breaking with recent practice and returning to normal idents on New Year's Day.

Does it make a difference?

Yes, if you've become used to expecting the Christmas ident on Jan 1 (and, the year before, it remained on air until Jan 4!)

So what was the consequence of the *shock* appearance of regular presentation on New Year's Day, and why did you need warning of it? Not taking the Michael, just genuinely curious.

"I refer the honourable gentleman to the answer I gave some moments ago".

Jan 1 is part of the Christmas holiday IMHO, and the presentation on the day should have reflected that. I had long been wanting BBC Christmas pres to extend to New Year's Day years before it actually happened, then just when we think it's normal practice someone changes their mind on a whim.

The appearance of normal daytime programming on the morning on New Year's Day was also wrong, even if the ratings vindicated the decision. There were no Two Ronnies or Morecambe and Wise slots over Christmas, and I would have thought property shows or boot sale shows were the last thing people would want to see when nursing a hangover!

Hi,

Regarding the front cover image of the BBC One Autumn line up press release; I emailed my friend Bimala who is a Brand Executive at BBC One to find out if they intended to launch the image as an ident and she said:

Email from Bimala posted:
"The image of the lady throwing autumn leaves into the air is not a new ident and was created purely as an image for our Autumn highlights booklet."

Now, she didn't say that it wasnt going to be turned into an ident, but at the moment thats the situation regarding that.

Regards,

I've been meaning to mention this for months:

Has anyone else noticed the problem with "Moon"? Well, firstly you see two men lifting the lower right half of the moon into place while the lower left half is already positioned. Then you see two other men lifting the lower left half of the moon into position, that was in place moments before.

Are we meant to believe that there is a third (middle) lower piece of the moon?

On that note something I have wanted to mention, on surf, the circle doesn't last all the way through, so its a bit of an odd one out......

IMO the BBC should splash out on separate idents for Christmas and the New Year.

I think most people will have noticed but yes, it is a bit odd - or a bit sloppy - depending on how you look at it.

If that autumn highlights design isn't going to be made into an ident, than there goes the chance for a very picturesque and down-to-earth addition to the set; I'm sure it'd look cracking if they gave it a shot.

In any case let's hope something of similar tone and concept is next to be added. At the very least, something that's normal in style with a nice backdrop that could be used as a newsy ident - something that's just a bit more like traditional BBC 1.

After all, surely the idents can't get any more surreal / radical than the latest few, right?

(famous last words!)
