Did they make a special announcement before Speed about Friday Night With Jonathan Ross such as an explanation or apology?

Probably just the usual " In a Change to the advertised programme"

ITV News played a recording of the ident as part of their Ross/Brand story, it was the usual "in a change to our schedule".

Thanks for that.

Do we think this is the end of it now or will the BBC take more action when Ofcom give their ruling?

That BBC Switch trail before HIGNFY was very annoying. Making it look like a technical fault does not look good, if it did TV engineers would leave them all in!

I was about to post the same. What effect are they trying to go for there?

I'm still not sure whether it was deliberate, or a playout server fault ?
Stupid thing to do if deliberate, because many people might imagine their aerial or dish was misaligned.

It's deliberate, I too thought it was a fault on first viewing. Bad idea which fits in well with Switch's dire presentation.

Glad I'm not the only one who thinks the BBC Switch trailer is annoying.

It's probably very annoying for the guys working on the channel - that's the sort of thing they're constantly on the look out for

I find it extraordinary that we've had the technical side of TV broadcasting, which since 1936 has continuously strived to improve quality, reduce impairment, and try to deliver a clean unblemished signal [1]; while on the artistic side are so called creative types that add in all those impairments in the name of 'art'

What exactly is BBC Switch? I've heard about it on here but never saw anything about it.

It's a television and radio strand for 12 to 16.

Switch used that effect on a previous trail (The 5:19 Show) and it worked well IMO, as it is an internet show so it is kind of in the same story - but I was dismayed to see it being continued to other shows, as it doesn't work as well on the other ones.

As for the people looking out for such issues, I imagine they would be aware of such a trailer so would know it was a deliberate effect rather than an actual problem.
