That's great news that other regions use them and even greater news that I have Sky to be able to view them. I still don't see the logic in spending all of that money on new idents and then resting them! Confused

I agree. If all that money is being spent on creating them then they might as well be used. The only thing that needs to be ensured is that there are a mix of idents used and not one or two that are used far more than the others (such as Sunroof and Zoetrope on BBC Two). That way there is variety with the package and lots to choose from.

Well we all probably know that Penguins is being rested due to the fact it will be used again at Christmas. Windows, Kites and Moon are all being rested.

Bikes being used up in Scotland a lot at the moment, along with Magic Forest into news junction as per the network.

Thank goodness.

What we need this year is a magical, sparkly, all singing all dancing Christmas ident. One that actually celebrates Christmas instead of shoving diversity and 'people coming together' down our necks. Snowball had snow. Penguins had a few bits of tinsel from Wilkos. It's not good enough Rolling Eyes

Penguins is not being rested. It is available for use. It's just not used very often, that's all.

Moon, Kites and Windows are the idents being 'rested' at present by Network. However, Moon and Kites are still appearing regularly in the English regions. Moon also put in a late-night appearance on BBC One Northern Ireland last week.

I don't like Penguins because it looked cheap and lacked some of the proper " sparkle " that Christmas deserves. At least Snowball had some of the " cosiness " feel of Christmas. Even if every time I saw one of the adults on it I thought of Jon Tickle. Smile

I think Penguins was great last Christmas but agree that it wasn't "festive" compared to previous ones. I am pleased to read that a more traditional approach to Christmas this year is being implemented by BBC1. Perhaps in view of BBC1 having both a brand new Wallace and Gromit mini film being shown AND the Premiere of the feature film Curse of the Were-Rabbit, maybe Aardman have been approached to make new Wallace and Gromit idents like BBC2's in 1995. Oh that would be fab! But, unlikely!

It would be nice to see Santa again in a Christmas ident though.

Excellent news to see a "theme" for this year's pres. You only have to look at the 90s presentation to see how great it was to tie up the trails, stings, idents and slides.

Fingers crossed for a proper Christmas theme - both Snowball and Penguins really just had hints of the season.
