There was a variety of styles with the old 2's compared to the robotic era 2's and that made them work much better. Silk, Paint, Catalyst, Excalibur, Neon, Firecracker, Woodpecker, Kebab and others used a variety of different styles. But with the 2001 era it was just A bloody yellow background with a white 2!! BORING!!! BORING!!! BORING!!!
I'm not so sure you should stuck with a corporate colour scheme. Channel 4 and the current 2's have moved away from that and to some extent so has BBC1.

That maybe so, but that has nothing to do with the fact they were CGI!

I think CGI was the reason for their lack of variety. They had to be done in that colour scheme and they had to be computer animated, that limited their variety.

I'm not disputing that part of your argument. I'm saying that the reason for it is not because of the CGI nature of it.

Well sorry if I sound like a Chinese dictator trying to quash your views, but you're wrong. It was L-N's choice to do it so, not because of any technical limitations.

Well whoever decided it imposed limitations unknowingly what could be done. It had to have a yellow background, the 2 needed to be in white and 3D and the whole thing had to be done with a computer. That's much different to saying make me a new 2 ident and off you go.

Understand, that there was no alternative - it became a requirement in order to realise the robot character concept. Use of CG is still irrelevant to the lack of variety you are talking about, which appears to understandably be your main issue with the set.
Computer animation allowed a progression of an idea, not a limitation of one, so to look at its use in a negative way is not really justified. How else do you think they were going to make the '2' sprout robotic arms and correct the logo, blow a whistle or take a picture of a fish? You can't possibly have expected them to do that with live action models, could you?
I'm thinking any continued discussion specific to BBC Two would better suit its original topic; we're digressing a bit here.
