Dogs and Penguins!! I'm in ident heaven! Makes the dark days of channels not putting much effort into their logos seem so long ago doesn't it?

Well, there have been two comedy programmes back-to-back; they probably thought to continue the silly / comedy mood in the pres!

It has been a good TV night

Just out of curiosity, do you know if it's true that the Penguins Christmas ident was so popular with viewers that the BBC decided to bring it back?

Can I ask what your favourite ident is?

I suspect the decision to re-instate Penguins sans-tree was made before the Christmas pres had actually finished.

I remember on the last night (of the Xmas idents) before N24, Duncan roughly said something like "...so for now , it's goodbye to our Penguin friends..." - the implication being that they were only going away for a time, and would return later.

Capes does not work when played before the news! (Look North Leeds)

Or Magic Forest. I like them but they shouldn't be used to introduce the news. Helicopter and Moon are more suitable in my opinion.

I know Kites was quite popular choice for news when this set launched, but consider that the soundtrack is so upbeat - it jars with the mood of leading into serious news.

I can't even begin to understand why Magic Forest was considered for bulletins. There's no real choice for sombre mood idents - it's quite an oversight. As proved by tonight, BBC One are great at coming up with funny or surreal idents, but symbols with real gravitas are still sorely lacking.

IMHO, the only absolute appropriate ident for news is Helicopter.

I'm going to put it as it is...
